But what did they tell you about it? What is AFAR?

Very little, the rest of the email was as follows :

"As a loyal member of Le Club Voyage, you understand how unparalleled destinations can inspire and broaden a traveler's perspective. In collaboration with our new partners at AFAR, it is our pleasure to introduce The Den, a new lounge on Azamara Pursuit that exemplifies our steadfast commitment to Destination Immersion® experiences.

Book your next Azamara voyage on Pursuit. Then head to Deck 5 to enjoy Destination TV, AFAR-curated cocktails, a travel library, and so much more"

By perusing this thread I have found that The Den appears to be a new/revamped space where Spirits is on Journey and Quest.

I also received the email. Am I the only person who thinks the siting of the Shore Excursions Desk in what looks to be a nice relaxing space for guests rather bizarre? Will be very interested to find out what hours the desk will be open.

To me it looks to be a whole lot of floor space dedicated to selling a lot of destination cruises curated by AFAR and Azamara, all while you're having drinks from the bar. Just my guess.

In keeping with Azamara’s ongoing corporate direction, the new “Den” strikes me as nothing more than a brainchild of the marketing department in the form of a dedicated revenue space, and, like ECCruise, an area that we will have little interest in. I’ll stick with the Sunset Veranda, as long as they will still bring beverages to me there.

This area replaced the casino, which in itself is a dedicated revenue stream, so I can’t see there’s any lost space to the bar area in fact it looks like some has been gained.

Will be interesting to see how it feels in operation, we always dislike Spirits as it has that Casino/Sports Bar feeling that’s not for us.

John, I agree with you. Spirits is certainly not a favourite inside venue of mine. In fact if I analysed it, apart from traversing the ship I rarely go there so I am keeping an open and positive view of The Den. For me it has to be an improvement. The chairs in Spirits are awful.

Phil...is there going to be a bar in The Den?...if not where would you get drinks? In the picture it looks like the bar that used to be in Spirits is gone? LuAnn

Yes there’s still a bar in The Den and it’s still called Spirits judging from these pictures:

Spirits is my favourite bar onboard and I am there for Trivia in the daytime as well as relaxing, listening to music and chatting to friends at night.

I really don't like the idea of the Shorex desk being in this area. I hope it's only open in the daytime.

Lottie, I can vaguely remember it being said that Shorex mainly has daytime hours so it wouldn’t interfere with evening activities in Spirits. Rational of having it there was that it would bring the Shorex desk closer to the tours dispersal area in the Cabaret Lounge.

The casino always took that are away from Spirits so the bar area has probably gained space, in 8 days we will be onboard and get to see how it feels in operation.

Thanks for the photos from Twitter Riocca, all looks very good, will be interesting to see how those new settees work out in the Living room, I can foresee a few spills on those.

It’s also a shame that Aqualina and Prime C has followed the trend on Journey with those 2top tables close to each other. Still, time will tell.
