we arrive in st Thomas at 11 and there are 4 ships that day. We worry about the crowds at the beaches already and if we would be able to find loungers etc. Has any one experienced this many people and what would you recommend to do in St Thomas because of it? TIA!

I think you are needlessly worried.

4 ships in port don't make St Thomas particularly crowded. You see way more ships in port on any given day at ports like Nassau, Cozumel and Grand Cayman.

St Thomas has a variety of beaches (Coki, Magens Bay, Sapphire and more) and not everyone who arrives on a cruise ship heads to the beaches as there is so much more to do there.

I've been there with 5 ships in port, one of them the Oasis of the Seas - went to Megan's Bay that day and it wasn't very crowded early in the day. We grabbed a taxi as soon as we got off the ship and were one of the first at the beach - less than a dozen people there. It got more crowded as the day went on, but never got crazy busy.

It all depends on what you want to do. Coki Beach may be crowded but it's a pretty small beach. If you move to the left facing the water it's less crowded and fewer food and drink runners that far down.

The museums and historical attractions are seldom crowded.

You can reserve a private day sail to avoid the crowds. Also private tours for other activities limit capacity.
