Transportaton from FFL to Miami

We are cruising on Dec 1 on the Horizon, I've seen a post that mentioned a Tri-Rail train from FLL to Miami, anyone have experience with it? I've looked it up on the web, seems easy enough and really inexpensive option, we are flying in on the 30th so we have the day before the cruise to get where we need to be. Sounds like we can take it and go to a Metro rail (not sure that's the exact name) station and get on a monorail to the downtown area where we are staying and only a couple of blocks to the hotel.

Sounds almost to easy, looking for input from anyone that has experience with this as a transportation option.

The Tri-Rail, for about $5 each, will take you to the MIA airport - you'll still need to taxi/Uber from their to your hotel.

Better option is to Uber/Lyft from FLL to your downtown Miami hotel for about $35+ for the car - look for hotels in the Mary Brickell area with lots of local dining and nightlife options within walking distance.

Your other option is to stay near FLL and then Uber/Lyft or use a shared shuttle to POM the morning of your cruise. http://www.sunny.org has lots of FLL area hotel and tourist info.

.

If the hotel is in Downtown/Brickell they could avoid a car all together. From Trirail at MIA you take Metrorail to Government Center and then get on the Metromover.

It is not that difficult, but it will be time consuming and for the cost of $5 per-person and then the Metrorail ticket the cost of an Uber is not a big difference and an Uber will be so much faster! As in Tri-Rail could easily take 2-hours and an Uber should take no more than 45-mins.
