Sailed on NCL Jade (Transatlantic and British Isles) in both balcony and window cabins. Lighting in both was too dim to comfortably read. No reading spot lights as on other ships. Jade just finished a big rehab - so what happened to easy to install LED Reading lamps for the customer. Thank you Amazon for back-lit Kindles!!

Ship - Epic

Deck - 17

Stateroom # - 17032

Stateroom Category – Haven Deluxe Owner's Suite

Starboard or Port Side - Center...slightly Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – There IS noise coming from POSH or whatever sunning area is above during the wee hours of the morning. I was awakened a few times (we were on board 14 days) but it was not a "deal breaker" for us.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – This was my main issue/complaint with this cabin. The balcony is large and LOVELY...two loungers, two chairs a couple of tables AND a sun bed. BUT my issue was that the view was of the pool and outside eating area. Not that you could not see the sea off to the but I prefer to be able to look down at the water.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Oversized I believe......larger that the Haven Two bedroom Family Suite but smaller that the Deluxe owner's Suite on the Pearl, Jewel, etc.

Was wind a problem? - no

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? -

Any specific problems with this cabin? -Only the location of the balcony and therefore the view.

Any other comments? -A really GREAT cabin! Extra large living room, large bathroom.....all great with the exception of the balcony and view. Of course this issue would NOT be a problem for many others....and I would book this cabin again possibly but maybe in a different location. I also prefer to be on the same floor as the Haven restaurant and pool....but there I do not think that there are any Deluxe Owner's Suites on that deck.

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes - no issues with noise at all

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Clear view with no obstructions

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal for class, but I felt like it was SUPER small

Was wind a problem? - Not at all

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - None - really enjoyed it!

Any other comments? - A little bit of a walk to front of ship, but not all the way to the front - about half way between the front and the forward elevators.

Ship - Getaway

Deck - 8

Stateroom # - 8726

Stateroom Category – Mini-Suite

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Very Quiet. Towards the end of the hallway so not too much traffic.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – The balcony was an extended balcony. Two loungers, two regular chairs, and a nice sized round table. It does extend out so balconies above have a clear view, but the extra size was well worth it. No obstructions at all.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Oversize. Balconies got smaller and narrower on decks 9 and then 10 and up

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - n/a

Any specific problems with this cabin? - not at all. Plenty of storage space. Bathroom has a double sink and the Rainshower system with glass shower doors. Hair dryer works great and fridge kept our water cold

Any other comments? - Hallways are very narrow and low. My husband is 6'7 and kept hitting the exit signs with his head if he did not duck. Don't forget the look for the swimming fish on the carpet as they point towards the front of the ship.

Thanks for the review on this stateroom! This will be our cabin in less than 14 weeks!! :D

Ship - Dawn

Deck - 9

Stateroom # - 9660

Stateroom Category – BA

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Most of the time. We did hear cheering (playoff games on the tv's) from O'Sheehan's a few times but not loud enough to bother us.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - Yes

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Standard balcony view

Balcony Size? Normal or over-sized for class? - Normal

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - n/a

Any specific problems with this cabin? - Not at all!

Any other comments? - LOVE the location. There is a door to the deck 9 "lounge" which is just steps away. The lounge overlooks O'Sheehan's and the Grand Atrium and leads right to the grand staircase. Very convenient!

Deck - 4

Stateroom # - 4508

Stateroom Category – OA

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – This cabin is located on Deck 4 forward - the corridors were very quiet HOWEVER - when we were in rough seas the waves crashed hard against our porthole and on the last night we could hear loud banging going on from 3:00 am onward - it was the crew loading luggage in the cages - these cabins are right across from CREW ONLY areas.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - no

Any specific problems with this cabin? - None

Any other comments? - as above - this cabin is very near crew quarters and behind the scenes working areas so can get noisy at times - and low enough towards the bow that in seas over 11 feet waves crash against the porthole. We booked a CAT OK guaranty - that was Deck 8 - Obstructed View Mid Ship with a window - NCL in their wisdom "upgaded" us to OA and a Porthole on Deck 4 - not sure why they consider this an upgrade -we felt it was a downgrade!

Ship - NCL Bliss

Deck - 18 - Haven

Stateroom # - 18126

Stateroom Category – H6

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – NO! This is a room in the Haven, and a very noisy room. Above is a common deck and it seemed people were running around, moving deck chairs, etc at all hours of the night. Also, with this being the last room on deck 18, the next door is the room where the cabin stewards keep the carts, so around 8am that banging started. I would recommend ear plugs or a white noise machine if you want more than 5 hours of sleep.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - no

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – View was fine, no obstructions, and size was ok. We had two chairs and a small table.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal, for two people we thought this was fine. The decks on 17 in the Haven were twice as big.

Was wind a problem? - no

Overall, if you book Haven and choose deck 18 - be very careful of what room you pick. Those toward mid ship are much noisier than toward the front.

Ship - Escape

Deck - 12

Stateroom # - 12706

Stateroom Category – Forward Facing Haven Penthouse

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Very Quiet, never heard a neighbor below, above or on sides. No hallway noise either

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – First balcony on Starboard. Great views but no forward view. Partially enclosed on the left side but still plenty of room. Chairs with nicer cushions and small table.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal size for Opening,, a bit more covered room to left as it is the first balcony on the level and partially enclosed

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - na

Any specific problems with this cabin? - Just at the very end of a long hallway. As long as you don't mind the walk, it was great

Any other comments? -

Loved, Loved, Loved this Cabin. Sailing with basically 3adults (Me, Husband and 16yr old son) having the separate Living Room for myson to sleep in was a huge plus. He's just to old to be sleeping above me on abunk for my comfort. Bed was extremely comfortable. Balcony was normal sizedbut enough for two comfortable chairs, a small table not not feel squished. TheBathroom was HUGE and we all loved the Spa Shower. I would book this room againin a heartbeat. I did not feel we missed out on anything by not being in theHaven proper, but it is a long walk to the nearest elevators. We called it the"Never Ending Hallway". I tried to make sure I had everything with mewhen we went up to the Haven Courtyard area, but it really wasn't a big deal togo back to room if we had to. Unless you feel you have to be right in Haven orneed a Giant Balcony, then definitely consider this room. A much better ratethan the rooms right in the Haven area and you get more roomspace for lessmoney.

Ship - Sun

Deck - 8

Stateroom # - 8226 and 8227

Stateroom Category – BB

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Generally. No noise from stewards/elevators. Only noisy girls approx 2 am walking the hall

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - no

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Clear views from both staterooms

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - normal. Seems small. Holds 2 chairs and a tiny table large enough for coffee cups. Not large enough for dining/plates

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - NA

Any specific problems with this cabin? - No

Any other comments? - Older ship. Bathroom/s tiny. Excellent storage--lots of drawer/shelf space. The light in the closet is wonderful. Some wear --like the drawer front in 8227 was screwed back on from the front. We used the coffee maker once. The fridge was large enough to hold several bottles of water (we bought a package of 6) Ice bucket was filled twice daily which was perfect. The electrical outlet - for 1 plug in is at the desk.

Ship - Epic

Deck - 11

Stateroom # - 11295

Stateroom Category – Balcony (B2?)

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Mostly perfectly quiet, during docking at port (only some port stops), could feel a lot of vibration/ noise from the engines.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - Nope

Balcony View - No obstructions at all, above the lifeboats and no cabins above you that could view down on you.

Balcony Size? Normal i imagine? first cruise so can't compare.

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - Aft but not a problem

Any specific problems with this cabin? - Safe wasn't initially working, but issue got sorted quite quickly via calling reception/ cabin steward and a person from security fixing the issue (Safe wasn't allowing to reset, but was sorted)

TV controller wasn't perfectly working but only a minor issue.

Any other comments? - Lovely room with plenty of storage options, didn't have a issue with the shower door design the Epic, but then was in the room with other half though. Some little bits of the room showed some wear and tear, especially on some of the cabinet draws. Greatly handy as well had both EU and US Sockets as well. Especially since had both spare from other trips to Mainland Europe (From UK and our lovely painful plugs) and trip to NYC a few years ago.

Also got lucky on port days, always had great overall city views like for Cannes, or sea views like Barcelona, Palma Majorca etc.

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – very quiet

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - no

Balcony View - No obstructions. Angled balcony, aft-facing, so view did include some of the balconies on the forward facing bump out. Not really a problem. Overall a fantastic view of the European ports during approach and sail away.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Angled and oversized. It fit two chairs, side table and lounge chair. Family of four could relax on it comfortably.

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - NA

Any specific problems with this cabin? - Inside of cabin was as described. No problems. It can be a tight fit when the bunk is pulled down.

Any other comments? - The extra balcony space was wonderful. Just a short walk up one flight to spa and gym, and up two flights to Spice H2O.

Ship - Bliss

Deck - 11

Stateroom # - 11106

Stateroom Category – H8

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Quiet Stateroom? – Quiet

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - Yes, but did not use as a connecting stateroom. Did not ever hear the occupants on the other side of the double connecting door.

Balcony View - Decent enough forward to port side view, though part of the balcony is view is obstructed by the forward ship size.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Smaller for Haven but apparently the largest for the H8 category on the Bliss. Could handle 3 Haven quality sitting chairs but it was crowded having 2 of them with a requested lounger.

Was wind a problem? - Not really, with the partial enclosure of the balcony one could sit without wind and still enjoy the sounds and sights of the ocean.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - NA

Any specific problems with this cabin? - Since the cabin is below the bridge, be aware that the master bedroom blinds must be pulled down at night to prevent glare from hindering the ship's navigation.

While diagrams of the ship suggest that the forward elevators and stairs are in the front third of the ship, they actually are closer to just in front of mid-ship. Consequently, be prepared to walk well over 120 yards from the nearest stairwell or elevator with drinks, snacks, or to retrieve forgotten items. Then, of course the trip back. We were hoping that the ship hadsecret forward stairwell but that was not case. Only the crew had forward elevators that were nearby but we enjoyed them only once as Haven cruisers returning from an excursion. Also, a portion of the Solo group of inside cabins is accessed from this floor so there is additional traffic for the first 30 yards of the walk from the elevator or stair bay. Sure the walk is healthy but it takes time. We found that we were doing over 16,000 steps a day going to or from the cabin and other sections of the ship on sea days. (Remember, to use the aft elevators when ever plausible since they are less crowded, even though they are over 550 yards from this fore cabin.

Any other comments?

NCL has not posted the floor plans, but it does resemble the H7 floor plans that can be found on some other NCL ships. Only modification is that there is the connecting door right beside the entry door and the dry bar is facing the sliding doors rather than being against the side wall across from the sofa. Google Bliss Stateroom 11106 to see photos of this stateroom.

Oversized bathroom with tub and luxury shower. Toilet raised to senior level (4YO and younger boys may need a booster step for #1)

Spacious cabin as described. Do get the feeling that is it at least 420 square feet plus the balcony. One TV in master bedroom, one Tv in the living room. Full size sofa can be opened to one or two occupants. (Do ask the on shore concierge to set it up with egg crate ahead of time).

Abundance of storage space throughout the cabin, in fact once we settled in the cabin steward stored the mini bar and extra linens and toiletries in the cabinets and drawers we did not need.

While the cabin was Haven quality and have a butler, the steward was assigned regular cabins as well. We had to work with the butler to encourage her o provide the extras that one expects from the steward in the Haven (extra towel animals for the kids bed, more timely make up or cleaning the room, etc).
