need 5 more pounds...any suggestions

I know exactly how you feel jackiedan. I've been trying to lose the same 5 pounds since mid-January. As Belle said, lots of water, cut out the unhealthy foods, and increase your exercise. if you haven't tried atkins you could give it a whirl
I started in jan to prepare for my march cruise to lose 20 pounds
in the first 2 weeks I lost 8 pounds and 12 in the first month
it's really not hard once you set your mind to it
I have been dieting on and off forever and it always seems to take a cruise to motivate me [img]http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif[/img]
so this time I tried atkins and I really found it very easy to follow (and I did cheat on weekends...pizza [img]http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif[/img])

so if you get down to a couple weeks to go and you still want to lose 5-10 pounds do this with walking and you should be fine

I have tried the atkins thing but it never seemed to work. I love carbs way too much. I do good for the first week but then i usually quit. I find that there just arent enough foods that I like that i can eat on atkins. I suppose though if i start the 2 weeks before the cruise maybe i will be able to squeeze it in before i cheat. Any tips on avoiding a huge weight gain while on the cruise??

On your cruise never, and I mean never, use the elevators [img]http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif[/img] [img]http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif[/img] This trick works every time for Bruce and me. Also check out the gym and put in an hour on the exercise equipment. We rarely gain more than a pound each. Good luck and enjoy your cruise. Cathy

What cruise are you going on? I'm also cruising at the end of May. It should be easy for you to lose 5 lbs before then. Watch those carbs, calories, drink plenty of water, and exercise. It works for me.

I agree with Cathy....take the stairs!!! I only gained a pound on my last cruise by taking the stairs. I didn't go to the gym and I ate everything I wanted. Good luck!!!
