Hi Seabourn veterans

I am looking at an Asian Seabourn cruise around the next year-end which does not have one of those very large discounts. It's well in the future, and the equivalent cruise this year does have a 50% discount. If it does attract such a discount nearer sailing time, is it usual Seabourn practice to apply the discount to existing bookings ? Problem is the current price is a little too much for me.

many thanks

Actually, I think if you come across a lower fare, and your TA is persistent in contacting Seabourn, you can certainly request that the lower fare be applied. If you don't catch it, though, Seabourn won't catch it for you. Sort of that old saying, 'if you snooze, you lose".

The rationale to use with Seabourn, in the event the fare goes down in price, is that you shouldn't be penalized for giving them the free use of your money in advance. Generally, this works. Alternatively, you can wait a bit to see if the fares change. FYI, it was my understanding that one or all of the triplets are going into drydock sometime in 2005 or 2006. Perhaps someone on this board with more information can elaborate more fully. That might impact your particular cruise.

According to the onboard cruise specialist, they all are going in for some refurbishing (as we had heard). The Pride goes in October and if one really checkes out the cruise calendar in the front of the book, one can find the date gaps. I only checked out the dates for the Pride.

I would think they would. Otherwise, if you were outside of the penalty window, what would prohibit you from cancelling and just rebooking???

Loss of deposit?

In an earlier thread I raised the question of a refund of a differential in such a scenario, and the response was no refund. In fact one respondent advised that he was forced to rebook.

I queried direct with Seabourn, and they replied that they did not refund differentials.

Perhaps they have changed their policy. One should enquire direct with Seabourn.
