Customs Duty

When returning from Mexico on a cruise ship are US citizens required to pay customs? If so, what would expect to pay pp and is there any other information that we should know?
There isn't a customs fee charged pp when returning to the US. Individuals that bring back "stuff" in quantities greater than what is allowed MAY be charged duty. Tobacco products and alcohol draw greater scrutiny. Expensive art or jewelry may draw greater scrutiny.

The US Customs link, listed above, will answer most of your questions.

Most people push the limits with alcohol. It has been our experience that the Customs folks don't want to bother doing the paperwork to collect duty on a second or third bottle of alcohol. Bring back a case of $150 per bottle tequila and you will likely be asked to get your checkbook out.

As noted, customs/duty is the same when returning from Mexico as it is when returning from other foreign countries. Returning on a cruise ship or airplane are treated the same.

Enjoy . . .
