Balmoral or Blue Lagoon excursion - NCL port Bahamas

Hi-

I am trying to decide between Balmoral or Blue Lagoon. Anyone have any opinions on just these two? I prefer to do cruise-organized excursions, so I don't want to go to a hotel and rent a room for the day.

I have difficulty walking long distances or standing in line for long periods of time; and I would prefer to insure we had a chair and an umbrella/cabana. (even for an extra charge).

Thanks!

I have not done the Balmoral, but I can shed a little light on Blue Lagoon. The island isn't very large so there isn't a lot of walking to do really. They let you off on the ferry and you have maybe a 5 minute walk to get to the beach area. They actually let you off on the side where they do the dolphin/sea lion encounters. The day I was there, I saw plenty of sun loungers, but that could change depending on the time of year/number of excursions going there. On another note, the ride out to Blue Lagoon is breathtaking. The greenish blue shade of the water is just beautiful, especially if the sun is out.

Blue Lagoon gets consistently better reviews than Balmoral. I've been to Blue Lagoon multiple times and it's hard for me to imagine another resort doing a better job. The facilities are new and clean, well maintained, etc. A key difference is also the lagoon itself. It's stunning, sandy (no rocks), no waves, and just perfect. We haven't wanted to venture over to Balmoral simply because Blue Lagoon is so good, why bother with something with mixed reviews and so many negatives?

10 of us went to Blue Lagoon last week. Wasted time and money, the beach is tiny, lots of lounges and sand, not very clean but not much water.

Awful food and not very good staff. 1 waitress tried to keep our money, we later learned we weren’t the only ones.

We just got back from our cruise and went to Balmoral. We enjoyed the dolphin swim part, but the beach day and food were not as great. Food was way overpriced. We would have preferred to head back to ship, but had to wait until time for our ferry back to the port.

FYI-Blue Lagoon just took down/discontinued their aqua bounce/trampoline park "until further notice" according to the resort. For us, this was one of the best part about the place (we have kids so the water bounce park would entertain them for hours). The lagoon side has very calm, crystal clear water however. We just cancelled our third, planned excursion though. Depends on what you are looking for.

After reading several reviews we've decided on Blue Lagoon. If you get the lunch package what foods are included?

Have realistic expectations. It's a beach day on a little island in the Bahamas. The included food was along the lines of hamburgers, hotdogs, rice, fries, salad, etc. You wouldn't go for it, but the food makes a perfectly fine lunch. It's served in a large covered facility which is great to get some shade and enjoy lunch.

Sounds reasonable. Thank you.

Everything is back, they had to do maintenance on them.

The only thing I didn’t like at Blue Lagoon was that the water was only waist deep at Blue Lagoon, going back to Pearl Island in 2 days. I’ll come back tonight or tomorrow and post some more pictures.

Was the water warm? Was there in March & water was quite cool.

I'm 6'3 and there were parts of the lagoon where I couldn't even stand.

I don’t doubt you at all, but I didn’t see any place where the water was that deep. Here’s some pictures of the Adult area where the water wasn’t deep.

This was taken on the ocean side for the Adult VIP area.

I'm doing the VIP Blue Lagoon with lunch included on April 11. I'll come back and post pictures of the Island and the included lunch.

You are escorted to the VIP area called Serenity Cove and greeted with Mimosas and warm hand towels.

Upgraded lunch consisted of fish, BBQ chicken, rice/beans, potatoes, corn, salad, fruit and dessert. The staff was very friendly.

The area between the guy holding the tube and the people way out on the left. It's possible the depths change, more sand is washed in, etc. Also looks like a very low tide.

But that open area where this is nobody in the picture. Thats because it's deeper. Deeper near the inflatable park especially.
