ms Volendam in Juneau, September 21, 2018

Volendam is making her last visit of the season to Juneau before heading south and doing a few months of Panama Canal cruises. She will be at the CT dock from 1300-2200. She is the only ship in port.

Another beautiful day before the beginning of a wet week in Juneau. There is a 0% chance of rain with a high of 63F/17C and a low of 36F/2C. Sunrise is at 6:40 am and sunset at 6:59 pm.

Going to get my hair cut, so I will probably miss out. Nearing the end of the season for sail-ins, I'm hoping to do better for the sail-aways from Fort Lauderdale!

Off topic: Roy, do you use the luggage service through HAL or some other one when you ship a bag ahead (and have to pay for it)?

So far I have always used the luggage service associated with my cruise line:

Luggage Concierge for Crystal

Whitestar Luggage for Cunard

Luggage Forward for HAL

I was given a quote of $124 each way for Luggage Forward while it's $120 outbound and $90 back. Unless you've had bad experiences booking direct with HAL I guess I'll go with the HAL service this time.

My last cruise was the first one that I sent luggage ahead but the cost was included in my fare. I thought the HAL one (in the booklet we received) sounded much like the cost I paid for sending home my extras from the WV. Just didn't want to pay more if you knew some great, cheaper company.;p;p Have you set up your pick-up date yet?

I haven't booked mine yet but do plan on using the HAL service.

She blends in so well, mostly what you see is the moving smoke plume.

For the fall arrivals the ship seems to be really blending into the background.
