A couple of Captains Circle questions ( Elite )

I think this is because you completed your booking long before 12 December 2017. Various interpretations of the Princess' email were inferred by different people due to its ambiguities. This is very fortunate. The UK thread is below.

Thank you for the link. I will have a read through.

Is the Princess ship and its ways very different to P&O?

Is the Princess ship and its ways very different to P&O?

Sapphire Princess is a Grand Class Ship similar to Azura/Ventura however a complete accommodation deck is missing, so about 500 fewer passengers. The ship was built in Japan not Italy about one metre wider than standard width with the extra space being mainly for a wider Promenade Deck. Sapphire Princess has generally darker decor wood and fabric more country house style.

In the Buffet, if you are on your own or a bit mobility challenged. The staff seem to be trained to intervene and help you find a table. They will also ask Buffet customers at their table whether they would like a drink. This is not only an invitation to purchase a soft or alcoholic drink but also an offer to make you a tea or coffee, my daughter asks for hot chocolate and they go off miles and return with one. So you do not always need to DIY cuppas at the tea station. In the buffet or on open decks they will ask "May I take this dish, sir?" and not just remove things. In the MDR they do 1st and 2nd sittings (6pm? or 8pm? not sure of exact timings) plus the Anytime Dining. A unique feature they offer is extra early 1st sitting at 5.30pm? on some ships then 2nd sitting on that MDR is Anytime Diners. This gives extra Anytime capacity. Breakfast time Cranberry Juice is not on the menu but often available. Dinner time the "Always Available" items in the MDR change a bit which seems a bit odd.

Entertainment is far more diverse, differences include Quizzes wher they mess about in an entertaining manner while still running a properly organised quiz within the event. Night quizzes in the Cabaret Bars may include fake cash and team members going to the front to collect it. Sometimes these replicate loosely US TV game shows. They do a Call My Bluff one with three crew members and you guess who is correct. Elevator Roulette, the Egg Drop from the top deck in the Atrium. Sea days often involve this type of event, carpet bowls in the casino. If you go to Skywalkers or anywhere like that and there seems to be no seats/tables free, try asking the waiters. I've seen them moving tables and chairs about where this is possible then take your drink order.

Children's club rules are radically different to P&O.

The ships are staffed by different nationalities than P&O and the passengers are from a wider selection of countries. Ex-UK larger number of British but smaller proportion than you find on P&O. I find that the multi cultural make up of the passengers means they mix more than exclusively British people do. I think you will have a brilliant time.

Forgot to mention, the sea looks bluer on Princess as they have a slight blue tint on the glass front of balconies. The casino has the usual games but also a Crap Pit, which is rare to UK cruisers as we do not play the dice game much. It is more of a game where the team play individually but all against the stick man although you can bet on his side winning, not many do. Smoking is allowed often on tables near the bar in Princess casinos yet they also have no smoking in the casino days from time to time.

I hope you have gotten all the answers you need. If not just keep asking.

Exactly! I have over 2 dozen cruises on Princess and never knew you could order the equivalent of tea time in our cabin. And I LOVE tea time so will be hooking myself up with this on my next cruise.

To the OP ... ask away ... we all learn from the answers to your questions.

Tea time is a loss for us however happy hour is another matter. I see someone else has the same appreciation for the wine tasting event that is free to elite members. I do agree that if you have something better to do like happy hour then do it as the wine tasting is a bit lame.

If you call room service to change out certain items in your bar setup, you have to list exactly the ones you want to exchange and what you want in return. I make a list on paper first before I call them. It is alcohol for alcohol or alcohol for soft drinks on a 1 to 1 basis and of course soft drink for soft drink.

Isn’t there some onboard credit given from Captains Circle when you have done so many cruises & you are elite. Does anyone know how many cruises & the increase of onboard credit.

Tried to search these forums, but this new way to search is a waste. I can never find or bring up anything anymore.

If you have 20 to 31 cruise credits, the obc is $25 per cabin.

If you have 32 to 41 cruise credits, the obc is $50 per cabin

If you have 42 to 51 cruise credits, the obc is $75 per cabin

If you have 52 or more cruise credits, the obc is 4100 per cabin

Just to let you know we booked in May 2017 to sail on Crown Princess on Feb 2nd 2018, and on joining captains circle we were awarded elite, this was because of our many cruises with P@O, however when we boarded we were given Blue status, we enquired to the reason for this and was told that we had to complete a cruise by 17th December, and booking date was irrelevant.

Good luck and I hope you keep your elite status as the princess rewards for loyalty are far superior to P&O.

Were there any changes to laundry as an Elite member?

Only change would be the slower service on cruises with many Elites. Then you get a note in your cabin that it will take 72 or even 96 hours to get cleaning back.

Another question regarding the Captain’s Circle levels:

If you meet the requirements for a higher level, it doesn’t take effect until your next cruise, correct?

I’ve seen other cruise lines move up your loyalty level for that cruise, if you will move up levels while on that cruise.

Just want to make sure I’ve got it right, we are working on adding some days and our first cruise was an 8 day, which throws off the number of days as all of our future cruises are 10 day multiples.....

Hi,

We have been elite for a while and don't seem to recall ever getting an obc as part of the elite benefits and did not see an obc listed on the Captain's Circle benefit information. What am I missing? Do you have to request the credit? If not, would you be so kind as to respond with a pointer as to where to find the cruise credit information you posted. $100 would be a nice addition to our upcoming cruise.

Thank you for your help.

Lyn

The loyalty onboard credit has never shown up on my cruise personalizer. We have always found a card or letter in our cabin telling us of the credit being applied to our shipboard folio.

There use to be a posting in an old Capt circle news book a few years ago but it has since disappeared. They will post it automatically for each cabin based on your level.

It's shown in your personalizer a week or so before the cruise.

Sorry, I am not sure it is on Princess.com anywhere, We always find a card in our cabin the day we arrive with the OBC amount on it. We have 46 six or so cruises, so for the last 25 we have gotten the award. If you do not, go see the Captain's Circle rep.

BTW, it is one award per cabin. SO if the person with you is eligible, they may get the award.
