Oceania Announces New High Speed Internet

Wow, meaning for $9.99 a day they will unblock the streaming services that they currently block. Awsome....

 

 

According to the article all passengers will get free internet which was not the case previously. As for blocking streaming likely they did not have the bandwidth to support streaming previously. I doubt your cynical interpretation.

Pure total marketing hype. Just last year they announced SpeedNet giving 4x the bandwidth. Now they have Wavenet.

 

Internet is free with O choice for all passengers. Nothing new.

 

In addition the crew now has free internet time putting additional strain over limited bandwidth.

 

No details. Considering their partnership with EMC my guess is that the increase speed will be available only when near shore in the Caribbean and Med ports where they can use the EMC terrestrial links and NOT limited and expensive satellite bandwidth.
