Is there a way to avoid children over spending on OBC

I don't have any children right now, and it will be 5 years before any grandkids cruise with us, but I've heard repeatedly that Royal Caribbean doesn't put limits.

It was a while ago, but at the time we cruised with grandkids we could get a card that could not be used to pay for anything; it was simply for getting on and off the ship and maybe for entry to the kid's club--can't remember that part.

My kids aren't allowed to purchase with their sail and sign card. If they do they have to pay me back when we get home. I have done this since we started cruising when my youngest was 11. This has worked well. It makes them think if they really do want something.
