Any recommendations for high tea while in London?

How about fun restaurants for dinner?

There was a long thread on this topic a few months ago that will give you some options. (NB What is known as ‘high tea’ in most of the world is ‘afternoon tea’ in the UK. A traditional high tea here would have more savoury items, such as pies or other meat/fish dishes.)

As for dinner, I think I read recently that there are 17000 restaurants in London. It may help us to make suggestions if you can say a little more about what you mean by “fun restaurants”?

Can recommend the Afternoon Teas at the Taj St James Court Hotel - (Kona Restaurant) - they have various themes and also Sketch. Both are fun and a bit different.

We ate dinner one night at San Carlo Cicchetti in Covent Garden. It was fantastic!

Whenever we are in London, we have dinner or lunch at Clos Maggiore near Covent Garden.

Romantic and superb food. Not cheap, but value for money.

The Savoy has a lovely afternoon tea but you need to be very hungry to do it justice.

We are going on the B Bakery bus. My cousins did it last year and raved about it. It's a vintage double-decker bus and you are driven around London while you enjoy your tea.

Oh, yes, I saw their bus in Northumberland Avenue the other week.

Most of the Thames river cruise tour operators also offer an Afternoon Tea Cruise.

I really enjoyed afternoon tea at Wolseley's. Had a great dinner at Harrod's department store. In the food areas they have counters to sit at and eat....excellent food. A real step up from the old Woolworth's counter! ;p

That would be fun. Sort of.

The Ritz. Browns. Claridges. The Dorchester. Well worth the money but book early for afternoon tea. They offer the quintessential tea experience! Harrods is okay but not as refined.
