Drink package questions.

Ok so I'm confused. The different packages say in resturant or bars only? Can I go to a bar get a drink and walk around with it? Or does it actually have to be consumed there? What is the main difference between the top one and say 2 sown from there? I'm not a big drinker but the best one says milk shakes and well...the fat girl that lives inside me said " saay whaaat!".

If 2 people are in a cabin do they both have to get the same package? Say my Dh gets the best package and I get a cheaper one , can he get me a milkshake from his package? I'm a fru fru drink drinker. But in a 7 night cruise I may only have 4 alcohol drinks. So the top most expensive package is a bit over kill for me.

Thanks for helping a crazy cruise loving woman...lol

Ok so I'm confused. The different packages say in resturant or bars only? Some packages are only available in he dining room during dining opening hours only

Can I go to a bar get a drink and walk around with it? Yes

Or does it actually have to be consumed there? No, except the dining room only package, but I can't see them stopping you walking out with a drink

What is the main difference between the top one and say 2 sown from there? The top one is the one with restrictions on time and venue; the others have no restrictions

I'm not a big drinker but the best one says milk shakes and well...the fat girl that lives inside me said " saay whaaat!".

If 2 people are in a cabin do they both have to get the same package? Both must have the same package

Say my Dh gets the best package and I get a cheaper one ,Can't be done

can he get me a milkshake from his package? See previous answer

Skier52 Thank you! Yes that helps immensely. We've done mostly RCI and it is way different. You can get different packages or one person can get it and the other get none. I'm not a drinker truth be told most I've ever had on a 7 nighter is 2 drinks. I'm a soda girl. But I do enjoy an occasional drink. After our fun with RCI in August (cancelled cruise due to Harvey trapping us in a Houston hotel for 5 days.) I DID come home and my drink of choice at the dinner that my husband took me to was....a HURRICANE! I wanted one that I could control...lol!!

I guess we'll all splurge on the one we can get what evwr we want. Expensive but it's a treat. Next time we'll tone it down.

I 100% think you should get the packages if you want to, even if financially you don't come out ahead but since you can only buy 2 packages or no package it might be worth it to do some math and see what you're actually gonna be paying to see if it's "worth" it.

For example and using made up figures, if both packages together cost $600 and you have 7 milkshakes (one every day except disembarkation) and the 4 alcoholic drinks drinks you estimated, and each drink cost $10, that's a total of $110. So basically your husbands package cost $490. If all his drinks are $10 also, that's 49 drinks (or 8 a day) to "break even". It might be totally worth it still, or just something you want to do to not have a bill but I just figured I'd point it out. Over on the Royal forum there are people outraged that on some sailings if you want to buy 1 package you have to buy 2 and they're saying it's a rip off/not worth it and all I can think every time is....if the packages are $300 a piece and you think you'd drink more than $300 but less than $600 worth of drinks....don't buy the package. If you will drink more than $600, then you're still getting a deal.

My husband can put a dent in the package lol. I'll get my moneys worth on non alcohol drinks. Water , soda, juice and a couple adult drinks. My daughter is like me and my other daughter ( aka step daughter) is her father's daughter for sure. I'll just have to keep a leash on her so to speak. She'll turn 21 on july 3rd and we'll embark on the cruise July 14th.

The buffet is open 20 hours a day and the drink package (meal time in restaurants only) can be used in the buffet. I have never seen anyone stopped from removing a drink from a restaurant or buffet - in fact we have taken our drinks with us many times. Here is the blurb from MSC web page

ADULT MEALTIME RESTAURANT DRINK PACKAGE

Make your everyday meals a special occasion!

Unlimited wine (a choice of 2 white, 2 red and 1 rosé house brands), mineral water, draught beer, sodas and fruit juices during lunch and dinner.

The drinks included in this package are for consumption in the main restaurants and the 20 hour buffet only and are not available in any specialty restaurants or bars. Prices start from AU$32*per adult per day or NZ$38* per adult per day.

We are booked on the Poesia for a 22 day cruise. We have the Aurea that includes a beverage package. It is not the top tier one and we wonder if we can pay the difference for drinks once we are on the ship? For instance if a glass of wine in our package is covered up to $6.00 and we want one that costs $8.00 can we pay the two dollars difference? Same thing with drinks?

If we can't pay the two dollars difference can we upgrade the package before the cruise or once we are on the ship?

Any info appreciated.

I agree with Durban and if you have Fantastica and get 12 vouchers per person to start so you may find it much more economical to just pre-purchase some more voucher books - it is easy enough to use them and you can always buy more....plus the non-alcoholic ones would cover the gelato ! And in our experience anyone can use the vouchers so you can always share with those in your party.

So if we are getting 12 vouchers each ( fantastica suite on Seaside for July) but my husband would want top shelf so I'll get the expensive package for he and I since they have to be the same ( makes no sense to me as some couples are a drinker and a non drinker ) ok can I give away the 12 free vouchers(×2) ? It will be senseless to just not have them used . Maybe someone on my roll call would want them??

Did not even think about this when I booked. We are on the Seaside 2/10/2018, 15 days. I assume that even though we booked as one long cruise with one booking number, it may actually be treated as a B2B.

So the question is....do we get two 12 drink coupons for the cruise, or two for each week? Just to complicate the issue, how about the 2 black card free dinners?

Inquiring minds want to know. Obviously since the Seaside has not sailed yet, what about Divina experiences sailing from Miami.

I thought if you get the mealtimr drink package it is for drinks during certain hours in the buffet? Same times for drinks as the main dining room. But are you saying with the mealtime drink package, drinks are valid all hours of the buffet and not just during the dining hours?

I have the mealtime drink package and I do believe that it is good in buffet during the POSTED Lunch & Dinner hours. For example, there are "snacks" until 6pm, and then DInner 6-9 (ish), then it goes into Late night or something. I'm pretty darned sure (though I won't know until Saturday) that I can't just camp at a table in buffet from noon to midnight and get my included wine....... because If I could, I would. And I'd bring a book.

Just sayin'

I see you are sailing soon, have an excellent time. I look forward to your info on the mealtime drinks package. I have it with my family of 8 in January. 5 adults, 3 under 21. Curious on the mealtime drinks and on the 12 drink vouchers on Fantastica. I am hoping this will be enough for the adults.

You can give them away but you don't get them until the first day - you pick up the vouchers in the casino after you board. Enjoy!

We've booked the house wine with dinner package. Along with 36 extra drinks vouchers and 15 coffee vouchers.

The question is how does the wine with dinner package work? Hopefully our server just knows and simply asks whether we would like red, white or rose? Does anyone have actual experience of this package?

Hi - I see the MSC site has MEALTIME RESTAURANT DRINK PACKAGE ADULT for $290 and $370 My cruise booking is for package A but I am unsure about which package that applies to as they seem identical. If it is the $370 one, I may upgrade to the all inclusive for $460 and drink on deck :). I have sent a message to MSC - but if anyone here knows the answer... :):)

The 'A' just stands for 'Adult' (as opposed to Package 'C' - 'Child').

MSC has 2 different per diem rates for their drinks packages, depending on the length of the cruise. For 9+ nights, the cheaper rate applies. I'm not sure if this applies with your quotes.

We will be in the MSC Seaside in the near future and was wondering if you can buy an unlimited drink package onboard half way through the cruise. Would it be the same price per day?

The drinks packages must be purchased by day 2 of the cruise at the latest. They are then withdrawn from sale.
