Homer is the coolest place I've been to. Tide swings are insane... DW and I went out on the Spit for dinner, while having dinner we watch the beach get larger and larger as the tide went out. We got back to our hotel and there was a half mile of beach that was not there when we left and there were 8ft high boulders that had been completely covered that I walked to. All kinds of sea critters were laying about the gravel beach. I walked around out there until about 2am (still light), surrounded by snow covered mountains it was very surreal. Got up the next morning and the water was back in and there were no exposed boulders. I hope to make a return visit this summer.
