? Outside areas for suite guests?

To return to your question re private outdoor suite areas....As someone has stated at present only the Edge has one. However, some upgrading (although some CC readers consider it down grading as it will take away some general deck space) is planned to the other ships in the fleet. What these changes will actually be (just restricted entry to area with nice loungers, or jacuzzi or plunge pool?) anyone’s guess at present! These changes are scheduled over the next few years. Google Celebrity Revolution for information.

Re Celebrity Suites... On S class some of these have a bigger balcony on a slope...worth looking at if outdoor space is important to you. In contrast on the M class the living area is nicer but the balcony isn’t large...

Totally agree with Jelayne, the Solarium really is a nice quiet space...Whilst we cruise in suites, this is an area I am sure we will still frequent even after Celebrity introduces private suite deck spaces.

If you can push your Celebrity budget a little more you get significantly more perks and a substantially better room and balcony with a a RS or a PH (or a Signature Suite on Reflection) for relatively little more...just a thought! If you are interested in the differences please ask.

Sincere best wishes for your ‘empty nester’ or as we refer to it in the UK your SKI (spend kids inheritance) cruise!

OP, please ignore the sour comments from the very few people who choose to spend their money differently from those who choose suites on Celebrity.

Comments suggesting that someone who wishes to book a suite on Celebrity would be better booking with Regent or similar just fail to understand that many really do not want a small ship experience and, heaven forbid, actually like the Celebrity experience but would prefer larger accommodation or additional perks that come with a suite.

If you reason for considering the "ship-within-a-ship" experience of the Haven is to avoid unruly children or raucous adults, then be reassured, if you choose a longer cruise on Celebrity you will not experience this. Even on a Christmas and/or New Year cruise on Celebrity, there are more but still relatively few children and these (and the adults) are well behaved. We have cruise on NCL (on a ship without a Haven) and it is a completely different experience.

We have also cruised Azamara and would not choose a small ship again when large groups of well behaved, adult guest can make it feel unpleasantly overcrowded.

You really should look at the Yacht Club on MSC Divina or their new ship Seaside. We are frequent cruisers on Celebrity and love the S Class ships but when we wanted to splurge for a suite experience MSC was SO much cheaper than NCL Haven or X's suites! Check out YouTube videos of Top Sail Lounge or the One Pool area on MSC.

Been in the Yacht Club on MSC - a wonderful experience.

Yes, that is what it looked like compared to others going upon my limited research, that the Celebrity Suite is a great value. Thanks for your input.

I'm not even sure what you mean by "being a big fish in a small pond" but my husband and I would love to experience a romantic vacation in the Caribbean without too much screaming and splashing around a pool (we have been there and done that many times and there is a wonderful time and place for that...but now we are empty-nesters ready to celebrate that fact). We are considering an all-inclusive resort on an island but we also like the experience of cruising and having entertainment of many kinds and many dining venues available to us. The Haven sounded like the perfect solution, so I started researching...and I heard even those pools can be overrun with screamers and the cost was high...When I started to research the price I realized we could do Oceania for the same or less as the Haven (for a lesser cabin) or a suite on Regent for a just little more. But the Celebrity suite is much less and I was hoping for maybe some quiet space around a pool or open deck, but all the private space seems like it's inside in restaurants and lounges. Not a bad thing, may still book it. Thanks for the help!

I totally get what you are saying. Like you, my DH and I are empty nesters and well past the point of young children...though we have nothing against children. While I don't recall a specific suite guest pool, there is a solarium that is adults only and usually very quiet. In fact, it's one of my favorite places on the ship. We took our twenty something kids and their significant others on a Thanksgiving cruise and sailed NCL for the very first time. We were not in the Haven but we talked to guests who were and they complained that the management let guests into the Haven area who were not in Haven suites (but were friends with someone who was) and they reported that it was just as loud and lively as the main pool areas. I hope you enjoy X. I haven't been on any of the luxury lines that other posters have mentioned so to me, Celebrity is luxury. In fact, any time I can sail away from life's madness for a bit, it's a luxury. I don't discount what others have said about their experience with what they consider true luxury, but I'm a satisfied X customer and don't feel the need to look elsewhere. And don't worry, not all X cruise critic posters are crusty. We welcome newbies!

Seriously, folks, if you distain "mingling with the masses" then select a cruise line/ship which segregates passengers by class, as did the old ocean liners. Each "class," usually First, Second and Steerage, had its own areas of the ship to include restaurants, common areas, and pool (no pool in steerage). Didn't have to mix with "those people." The goods news, of course, is that some lines are returning to this type of segregation. Thankfully, the upscale/luxury lines don't segregate (yet) as the "mass market" ships/lines try to provide a sense of segregation for those who distain to mingle with the "masses." Faux luxury.

I know that that they are not in the same category, but I priced out a Haven suite and the price was not THAT different for what you seem to get on Regent. The Celebrity suite was less. I don't really know what any of these experiences feels like because I haven't done any of them and this is why I'm asking this apparently ridiculous question. Thanks for all of your patience with a silly naive idiot such as me. I will continue to weigh the options...

I'm sorry you received some uncalled-for responses. All of us have asked questions that seem naive but really, we just want to know. As for your options, they are all different experiences. You will enjoy any one of them with some having more pluses than minuses depending on your wish list. However, there are not many lines which will provide the private Haven pool/dining room/etc.... and yes, you have to stay within it's 'boundaries' if you wish to continue the private experience. Celebrity will only provide a separate Suite dining room and Michaels Club for Suite members to enjoy beverages. Each category of Celebrity suite has a different price point which only gives you a larger or better appointed suite. All other venues are open to all cruisers. Hope this helps with your decision making.

Have you considered Princess. They have a Sanctuary area that should be very relaxing and quiet. You can reserve a lounge chair for a day or week. I think most reserve their lounge chair for a week and do it as soon as they board because it is limited to the capacity.

Instead of paying an outrageous price for a suite you can get a lower priced cabin and still have a nice area that is adults only for a reasonable rate

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

Reread my post: I said PREMIUM line like Oceania or Azamara. In any case, putting anything on a Celebrity or NCL ship in the same category as Oceania is ridiculous. Just the difference in food is remarkable.

Did you read my post? Sailed on Oceania 3 times in suites. We were not impressed. We book suites on Celebrity and are always pleased.

Silversea is hardly a luxury line. Spent 10 days on them going from Singapore to Hong Kong. We were on the Silver Shadow. Poor food, bad service, ..... spent 10 days on Seaborn..nice, but too small. Regent was fine, no complaints.

Contrary to what has been stated, X is considered a Premium Line.

There is a pool in the Solarium on X ships which is adults only.

It is a relatively quiet area with the soothing sounds of a water feature.

Give X a try, it might be just what you’re looking for. 😊

Yes there are! As a matter of fact if you walk all the way aft on any deck, crawl over the railing and walk another five feet there is a private saltwater pool for those who need a designated space undisturbed by the humble masses who occupy the less expensive real estate.

I've not posted on here for a while. but I see suite envy is still alive and well on the Celebrity board. :D :D :D

Nothing ever changes....

Thank you so much to all who have offered sincere support and help in my search!! I have already done some research at your useful suggestions and have totally eliminated NCL. We are now considering X, MSC Yacht Club and Princess.

For those who made snarky comments, YOU'RE the disdainful ones. Reflect on that for today. Maybe you will feel happier tomorrow.

Peace out!

What is your problem? If you had nothing except snide generalizations to offer, why did you bother to post? It’s no wonder people lurk instead of daring to risk asking a question on boards that are meant to be helpful.

It is cowardly KEYBOARD COURAGE... so sad.

I am on the Equinox right now in a suite. I have been fortunate to also have enjoyed the very best Suites on other lines and the Garden Villa on NCL.

OP- I don’t think you will miss not having outdoor suite areas. There are plenty of seats to be found.

And, the person who made the rude comments has never sailed on Celebrity based on his prior postings. Hopefully he will stick with the other lines or maybe he has been sufficiently shamed here and will consider an apology?

Enough of the mean comments disguised as being witty. OP has legitimate questions and we on this site are here to help, not judge, not denigrate, and in this case, not equate a suite with upper class and those CHOOSING other accommodations as lower class. :(

I would suggest you also consider Viking Ocean cruises. The minimum age allowed on their ships is 18. Each ship holds about 950 passengers at capacity and all have been built within the last five years. While prices are high, even if you choose the lowest priced cabin (every cabin has a balcony), all the facilities of the ship are open to everyone and are included in the cost of the cabin. A refined atmosphere prevails and the spa area is ultra luxurious. Service is impeccable. They understand that silence is a luxury that is often hard to find at any price so there are no loud distractions and there is no casino. They seem to have successfully filled a niche by catering to the upscale retired cruise passenger who is looking for a quiet, less hectic cruise. I still enjoy Celebrity but Viking Ocean has joined my short list of preferred cruise lines.
