what's near the port? what to do there??

The,dock is right in town. About one block to the port gate and a short walk to the, center of town.

There are lots of three wheel bicycles used for transportation and they will take you across town to the beach or bar/restaurants and through some residential areas for 5 or 10 dollars.

The town is pretty small and usually they set up some souvenier stands in the park.

Some tours are offered that go out of town, also.

My wife completed updating her website with the section containing slide shows of our December 8 - 22, 2017 Panama Canal Transit cruise from San Diego to Fort Lauderdale on the Holland America Westerdam. Our cruise included a port stop in Cortijo.

We booked a shore excursion to Cortijo El Rosario Estate & Equestrian Show. The 300-year-old farm estate of Cortijo El Rosario is famousthroughout Central America for the pure-breed Spaniard & LusitanianEquestrian Show. The excursion also included a delicious traditional Nicaraguan lunch of chicken, beef, pork, bananas, beans and tortillas served in a large La Palpa with traditional folkloric dance.

Take a look at this shore excursion slide show when you have time. I'll insert a link below that will take you directly to it. Cruising is a fantastic way to travel!

Awesome website!

We enjoyed Corinto much more than we thought we would as it was so difficult to find any info. We thought we would just stay on board.

We did get off & took a short walk to the entrance of the pier where you are immediately in the town center. On port days they set up many stalls along the road, for several blocks selling trinkets. The 2 person pedi cabs are everywhere & will take you to a black sand beach with 2 eateries, wait & bring you back for $5-$10. We had a really enjoyable time.
