Thank you MSC for the free upgrade

We are going on MSC Mereviglia in January. This ship is new and we want to try the new experiences. I have booked two regular inside cabins for me and my wife. The other cabin is for my family. At the time of booking these cabins were separated, even on different deck. Despite of this I have confirmed the booking.

Now a few days before the sail-off I received the new cruise ticket. Both inside cabins are upgraded to Yacht Club cabines side by side !;p

These cabines are located in the area only for the YC members. So I have access to all the perks of the Yacht Club. But I don't think I got a reservation to the special YC restaurant. I am very happy with the YC cabins which are more than twice the cost of the regular cabins.

Hi

Within the MSC website, it does state that guests upgraded to YC do not receive the perks, just the cabin.

But good luck with it.

it always says that, but totally not true - they cannot police this so the OP will get all the perks that go along with the upgrade to the YC, no issue...

January is a quiet month for cruising the Mediterranean Sea. The prices are at the year low. Maybe MSC didn't get a full booking on the YC area. I am a regular MSC cruiser with a gold card member. I never got any free upgades in the past. Someone in the MSC has granted me this upgrade. It is the first time I will enjoy the YC perks.

If the drinks in YC are really free then I have no use for my pre-paided drink vouchers. I bought them pre-cruise to avoid the 15% service charge.

That's awesome! Enjoy your cruise and your upgraded cabin!

The only relevant post in that thread is the following:

I can confirm this. Last month we were on the Preziosa. Two weeks before departure we saw we were upgraded from a Bella aft balcony to a YC cabin. We didn't receive any notice. On embarkation we were told that the upgrade didn't include the experience, it was only the room. That didn't stop us from trying though. However, on entering the TSL we were asked to show our cards and then politely turned away. We asked the concierge if we could buy the experience upgrade and were glad to hear we could for 35 euro p/p p/d which of course we did........................... I am sure that we wouldn't have received any of the in-room perks, because the butler had to replace everything: the bedding, towels, bathrobes, fruit basket etc.

That was in response to this:

Can anyone confirm that they have been upgraded to a cabin located within the YC and not received access to lounge and restaurant?

We just came back from the cruise on the MSC Meraviglia and it was beyond my expectation. The embarkening process was just like my the previous embarkening. We stand in line with the other cruisers and checked in. The MSC desk couldn't find my cruisecards. A supervisor was called and he immediatelly call for a butler for a personal escort to the Yacht Club. I couldn't believe my eye. This was supposed to be a cabin update without the perks. Once in the YC reception they told us it was a full upgrade with all the YC perks. That includes a free access to the YC lounge and free drinks just like a premium drink package. Also we got a seat in the YC restaurant. We have dined there every day ! The Top Pool and the open-air buffet was available too with free drinks.

In my cabin I found my cruisecard. The YC bathrobe and the sparkling wine was there too. Nothing was taken away like in the other thread. The only restriction was no free drinks in the rest of the ship but you can order anything you like in YC area. We spent almost the whole time there.

The Spa area was also free. It has the most features I even seen on the MSC ship.

I can't believe we got so much perks with the free upgrade of the Fantastica inner cabin. Me and my wife and other two family members had the best time on the ship.

Great news! We were upgraded by MSC to YC and cant wait to find out if we get the perks too. But after reading other posts where they were not included but offered for 50$ a day, We are certain that we will be enjoying all YC has to offer either way!

Sailing soon in 33 days. Will definetly let everyone know what happened on our first cruise EVER.

LOL- my daughter and her husband spent part of their honeymoon on the Meravigilia. While they didn't get a cabin upgrade (balcony, but I don't know what experience level), she hasn't stopped talking about how the crew knew they were honeymooners and constantly had unexpected freebies and perks given to them.

It is nice to read posts like the OP's and hear of my daughter's experience when most threads on this forum seem to talk about the bad customer service of MSC.

We didn't know we had an upgrade until we arrived at our original cabin, an Aurea balcony on Splendida and saw the cruise cards on the bed had other peoples names on them! Nothing had been said at check in. I rang reception from the bedside phone only to be told we had been upgraded to YC and to come to reception for our butler to meet us. Boy were we surprised! Once in YC we enjoyed all the perks on offer. We have just booked b2b cruises for May next year and have paid for YC this time as we loved the experience. I guess that is what MSC is aiming for with free upgrades. :D
