Kid friendly restaurants in Vancouver?

Recommended Posts

So excited to be in Vancouver next week! Looking for kid-friendly restaurant recommendations around Canada Place and Granville Island (obviously two different meals!). Kids love seafood. Thank you!!

Very few restos are not kid-friendly in Vancouver (bars have restrictions by law on minors, so some Happy Hours may be unavailable to you as these are quite commonly served only in the bar area of a restaurant). As long as you're not looking for kids menus eat anywhere that appeals to the grown-ups. Actual kids menus in even fancy restos will tend to fall back on the super-boring breaded white-meat chicken, burger, fish-fingers, hotdog type proteins with perhaps a few more healthy options for sides than in other areas, but still generally fries/salad/fruit and an included drink of milk, water, or fizzy pop.

Personally I'd do Edible Canada on Granville Island, provided it's dinner or brunch you're after, as they have always been the most competent kitchen in the place as well as the most interesting. If everyone wants sit-down seafood, you could also try the Vancouver Fish Company, Bridges or Sandbar in that order. If simpler fried seafood works, then it';s really hard to beat the value of Tony's - and if you step all the way down to a takeout lunch type option, Go Fish is excellent just very limited in menu (and seating!)

Canada Place - for outdoor dining, Tap & Barrel's patio is very hard to beat and their menu, while 'pub grub' in style, is quite consistently executed and really pretty good. Cactus Club Cafe has one of their two 'view' outposts here too, many seafood dishes on the menu. It's not a cheap venue, but it does provide excellent value for the price.

Yes about White Spot! Kids loved the Pirate Pack. Recommended by local friends of mine. Not fancy. Kids are asking to go back but no White Spots in Tennessee!

Sounds like you need to plan another trip to British Columbia/Western Canada. They have recently started opening up a few locations in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea and Singapore.
