If I can ask for some help? Trying to pick dates for 2010. Two choices:

Leave NY 10/7 and arrive Quebec 10/17

OR

Leave Quebec 9/27 and arrive NY 10/7

Which do you think would be the best week to go for peak foliage?

Any help/thoughts would be greatly appreciated! THANK YOU!!

Hi Chesie,

If I were you, I would leave Quebec 9/27 and arrive NYC 10/7. The colours change earlier the farther north you go, so there will be lots of colour in Quebec by the end of September. By mid-October, some leaves will already be down and the colour is then lost. In addition, the weather in Eastern Canada becomes much cooler by early October, so by leaving from Quebec at the end of September, you will be travelling south, hopefully towards a little warmer weather in NYC. If you leave NYC and go north on October 7, it will get colder as you travel north to Quebec.

As you will note in my signature, we are leaving NYC on September 16 and arriving in Quebec on September 26 this year. We will not have much colour in the trees likely until we hit the St. Lawrence, but it will be warmer overall. This was my mother's choice, not mine. I would have chosen the sailing leaving Quebec on September 26 and ending in Fort Lauderdale on October 10 if it had be solely up to me.

Have a great cruise, whatever you decide :)
