The Ramada is right by exit 14 on the Turnpike and is one of the closest hotels to the port.

The whole area is a highly industrialed urban area. With the exception of the hotels on International Blvd, there is no place to walk to from any of the airport hotels except perhaps a neighboring hotel. Hotels which offer free breakfast often have no other food service except delivery.

Newark Airport is not a vacation destination.
You are like the Newark cruiser whisperer! No issues with the Ramada being next to a state prison!!??

Not at all for me. It's in an isolated cul-de-sac on the north side of the airport which is difficult to access, particularly by random foot traffic. In a highly urban area like Newark this is a big plus if you're leaving a car. The parking is gate secured and staffed 7x24. Airline crews come and go all night. Vehicle traffic has to go through the security gate. No one is wandering easily onto the property by foot. I also think that presence of the prison is a deterrent to folks up to no good.

Most if the reported problems at the airport have been on the west side near routes 1&9.
