Dream Christmas Cruise 2017 - Cabin Decor

After a day of reading old threads - thought I would post a new one to get current info from those that sailed after Carnival tightened their rules ib Oct 2016 regarding cabin & door decor. There was a lot of speculation before Christmas - but can't find any threads where people posted on how it was actually enforced or what decor/products passed muster (forgive the pun)

My extended family is sailing on the Dream this Christmas in 3 balcony cabins with 3 kids under 10 so we would like to decorate the cabins a bit. My great idea of command strips and LED lights seems to have been dashed by the new rules - but actually wondering if that was enforced. How about battery operated ones? How about fairy lights?

Looking at regular decor - tinsel garland says it is fire retardant - did that work?

People talked about PVC window clings - were those acceptable? I saw a site that had larger ones like for the balcony windows - will that be a problem?

Just looking for ideas that will personalize the cabins a bit for the kids!
