The loop, is it ships physician?

 

I don't think so - there would be some red.

Captain/Ship’s Master – 1 wide and 3 smaller gold bars one of which is looped (Nelson loop) - In command - has ultimate responsibility for the overall management of the ship

NAUTICAL (DECK or NAVIGATION) DEPARTMENT: (gold bars one of which is looped, the “Nelson loop”)

 

Chief Officer – 4 gold bars one of which is looped

2nd in command - Head of deck department - Responsible for navigation and safety

 

First Officer – 3 gold bars one of which is looped

Senior Navigation officer

 

Second Officer - 2 gold bars one of which is looped

Navigation officer

 

Security Officer - 2 gold bars one of which is looped

In charge of overall security and ship’s discipline;

reports to the Chief Officer

 

Third Officer - 1 gold bar one of which is looped

Navigation officer

 

Fourth Officer – 1/2 gold bar one of which is looped

Assistant Navigation Officer

 

Cadet – ¼ gold bar (spaghetti stripe) one of which is looped

 

Boatswain (Bosun, Bo'sun or just "Boats")

In charge of sailors and Life Safety Attendants/Boatmen

 

Quartermaster - Blue (winter) & white (summer) sailor’s uniform

Responsible for manual steering of ship and tenders as well as Bridge lookout

 

MEDICAL DEPARTMENT: (straight gold bars with red filling) – Reports to Nautical Department

 

Passenger Physician - 3 gold bars with red filling plus snake & sword in triangle - Responsible for medical care of guests and staff

 

Crew Physician - 2 gold bars with red filling plus snake & sword in triangle - Responsible for medical care of staff and guests

 

Lead Medical Officer - 2 gold bars with red filling plus snake & sword in triangle – assists passenger physician + initial assessment of patient

 

Medical Officer - 1 gold bar with red filling plus snake & sword in triangle - assists passenger physician + initial assessment of patient

 

TECHNICAL (ENGINE) DEPARTMENT: (straight gold bars)

 

Chief Engineer - 4 straight gold bars

Head of engine department - responsible for all technical operations

 

SAFETY ENVIRONMENTAL & HEALTH OFFICER: (straight gold bars with blue filling) – A one-man dept, however falls under Technical Department - reports to Captain + Home Office

 

Safety Environmental & Health Officer - 3 wide gold bars + 1 smaller bar with blue filling – responsible for all environmental, safety and health issues onboard the vessel

 

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER: (straight gold bars with green filling) – Falls under Administrative Department

 

Information Technology Officer - 2 wide gold bars + 1 smaller bar with green filling - responsible for all computer and satellite communications systems on board

 

HOTEL DEPARTMENT: (straight gold bars with white filling) – consists of:

 

Administrative, Housekeeping, Beverage, Culinary Operations (Food Preparation + Food Service) & Entertainment

 

Hotel Manager - 4 gold bars with white filling

Head of, and responsible for, all aspects of the hotel department

Thanks, Peter. Are you having really bad weather? My DH is in England, near London, and says it is just terrible there. Icy and treacherous. On our news here they showed a webcam clip of an eagle in Northern Virginia hunkering down in his nest. It's not Spring yet!

 

I did not make it to the sail-away today. The weather in the New York City did not seem all that bad, just a wet wintry mix with some wind gusts. We drove around Long Island today and saw many trees down: snapped or uprooted. Lost of utility trucks were out working on power lines.
