Electrical Outlets on MSC Seaside

Will be cruising very soon on MSC Seaside. How many electrical outlets are in a Deck 14 Fantastica Balcony Cabin, and where are they located? We will be having 2 cell phones (using for the cameras) and 2 tablets (fun games or books on Kindle to wind down in the evening). I am bringing a 4 HDMI port to plug in somewhere in the main cabin. Also, what about my hairdryer and curling iron? And please don't give me a hard time about them. My hair is very fine and will go completely flat without them, and I try to look as nice as I can.

We were in 14059 which is a fantastica balcony. There are 3 USB plugs in the room. 1 beside the bed and 2 on the desk. There are 2 North American electrical outlets on the desk and two European of some sort. You can charge 5 devices at once without using a 4 port device, if you bring 5 chargers... There is a hair dryer in the desk drawer. The bathroom has an electrical outlet for a shaver and it requires an adapter if you are using a North American device with two different size prongs. The adapter you need converts North American to the two small prongs like the ones on North American shavers. I hope I am explaining this well.

The bedside USB is a weird situation in my opinion. There are light panels on each side of the bed and light switches on each side but they only included a USB charger on one side of the bed. Why wouldn't they put a USB port on each side? It makes no sense.

I agree. There are countless things that make no sense to me after 5 cruises.

For instance, Passengers will be puzzled by the closet doors that are blocked from opening fully for no apparent reason, and the minimal storage space. Tip: consider bringing a hanging closet organizer for the closet, available at Walmart, Amazon, etc...

MSC: please consider removing the closet doors or at least removing the stopper that prevents one of the doors from opening fully.

1. HDMI is a video / audio port. Not ever used for charging as far as I am aware.

2. There is a pretty decent hair dryer provided. It is hard wired into the drawer in the desk. You can bring your own hair dryer if you want but it probably isn't necessary. I have baby fine hair and had no trouble just using the one provided. I did bring a curling iron and it wasn't any problem.

3. At the desk you will have 2 Italian power plugs which are 220v and 2 which are American 110v plus 2 USB plugs.

4. You will have a USB plug by one side of your bed with the lamp. Yeah it would make more sense to have one on each side but we spoke to a number of people and it appears every cabin only has one.

5. If you bring an HDMI cable you can connect to a laptop and play videos saved to it on your cabin TV. We were able to do so using the provided remote for navigation with no trouble.

Don't be suprised if the outlets "go dead" when you have to remove the cruise card from the door slot. And you do have to use your card, a substitute will not power the system to let you turn on lights and let steward know you are in cabin. If you don't make reservations and if there are any seats left, you will have to find whatever is left over and climb over whoever have reservations. Seats are not assigned in either case.

There are lights attached to the wall on each side of the head of the bed for reading in bed. By one of them you will find a USB port. I think it varies which side according to how the switches are wired. You can turn the lights on and off from either side of the bed without getting up.

Yes make reservations for the shows, but they let anyone in for the empty seats a few minutes before the shows start. If you have some time and want to see one just go by and check. We did the 7 PM every night. At the start of the week it was pretty full but there were still a few seats here and there. Last couple shows were much more sparsely attended. We really enjoyed all the shows.

We also attended the Invito Opera or whatever the exact title was. We quite enjoyed it. A lovely soprano sang snippits of Verdi alternating with a tenor singing bits by someone else, and then the violin and piano accompaniment played Mozart. It was a pretty full show. We only caught a bit of Classico Latino and wished we'd got there in time to see all of it.

We also attended Beer Prov on the first no children R rated night. They did make us laugh but we didn't really think it was worth a second viewing. They just seemed like they were really forcing it somehow? I don't really know how to explain it but they just lacked a certain je ne sais quoi which "Who's Line Is It" had. Lots of people really loved them and attended every show, though, so probably just not to our peculiar taste.

Trivia was fun. We won a couple of nice visors.

They really made a big deal out of Valentines day. We got heart shaped "pralines" with our espresso and praline trio in Venchi. They were selling champagne buckets which came with souvenir glasses and a rose for just the price of the champagne in the Champagne Bar and I think the special was oysters on the half shell. Yes we giggled like our inner teen selves when we saw that. ;p

There was a giant heart-shaped decorated cake in the buffet on deck 8 at dinner and a carved fruit display. Our room steward made our bath towels into swans making a heart by putting their heads together. I don't know if they did this for all the rooms or if he just did it to be cute because he saw I had decorated our room. They put up decorations in the atrium and had hearts and romantic stuff on the screens all evening. The live entertainment there sang sappy love songs as did the live entertainment in the Seaview Lounge.

Venchi was handing out roses with $16 chocolate box purchases. Beware they charged us gratuity on that possibly because we bought ours from a Venchi employee going around selling them to couples in the Casino. Hubby still found it worth it as he hadn't planned ahead.

I got a Valentine's sign from Dollar Tree which came with a jute cord attached to hang it by and hung it round the number sign on our door. We got a lot of comments about it throughout the week. Pretty much any time anyone passed by the room and saw us entering or leaving they'd comment. The doors are not made of metal FYI. I had been told they were but ours was not. All the cabin doors we saw were just like ours but we didn't see in the Yacht Club. The wall in the entry area was magnetic.

I also took a string of battery operated lighted roses. I had planned to put it on our balcony railing using towel clips but found it did not work as well as I had hoped. Binder clips would have worked but I didn't bring enough. I could have clipped them to the clear plastic under the wooden railing. Spouse found a way to hand them over the head of the bed instead. They made a nice night light.

I brought a Valentine scarf and had it on the table / bench for the desk and used magnets to hang some spiraling hearts. I snuck off to put out the hearts and scarf by telling spouse I had to use the bathroom while we were enjoying drinks in the lounge. I had snuck some late night snacks in the form of muffins and some other things and hid them in the closet in a zip bag so I put those out on the scarf along with our bucket of champagne. He was really surprised when he saw everything. :D

Didn't really want to start a new thread, but was wondering if those of you who have been on this cruise in a Balcony Cabin found the furnished hairdryer to be adequate?

Also, is there shower gel provided?

And hopefully I can communicate well enough with my cabin steward that I need the comforter removed from my bed and replaced with just a sheet and lightweight blanket. And I need the ice bucket full every evening so that I can take care of icing my silly feet before bed so I can sleep. :o

The hairdryer is no different than any hotel hair dryer. It is well hidden in the drawer of the desk. It worked fine IMWO.

your wristband open the door, right?

in this case you are able to put your seapass into the slot to charge your devices, right?

Is houskeeping removing the seapass then?

I carry a European 220 volt converter with usb and a 110 volt power cube with usb. This gives me 4 110 outlets and 6 usb spots to plug something into.

We are lowley silver card sailors with MSC so we didn't get bracelets. If you leave your card in slot, then room steward has no way of knowing that you have left cabin and should not attempt to clean, make up bed, replace ice, towels etc while you are out. Tablets and phones charged well enough during sleeping to carry throughout next day. We had no problems with plenty of fresh ice at all times. We did let our steward know we are allergrect(sp) to down and he was able to replace with nice thick foam pillows before bedtime first night.

So is it true that the only power outlets are at the desk? There is none by the bed? I need to plug in a CPAP machine. Wondering if I should bring an extension cord.

My sweety uses cpap and we had to bring extension cord( not power strip with ground fault). We plugged it in at night and had to be careful not to trip over it during bathroom visits. Just unplugged and tucked under end of bed during day. Ours was a twevle footer and with the cord on cpap was just long enough.

You can bring a cord or ask your room Stewart for one. Cords are not allowed to be brought on board except medical reasons. I would put the cord with the CPAP machine.

One is better than none, which is what is on other lines. I found it helpful since I used my phone as my alarm clock and I could be sure my phone was always charged.

My DH used the plug by the desk with an extention cord for his CPAP machine and his phone and my computer.

AGREE!! This was the absolute worst thing about the cabin! Absolutely ridiculous! The craziest design ever!

If you have been on the Divina, the shower doors were brilliant! So they decided to not use them on the Seaside and use regular shower doors....so silly when they had a design that worked!

Our cabin steward made the swans for us too, towels shaped like a heart sitting on a pillow and then he fan folded the bed scarf as the "backdrop" to it all!

We ate dinner at the French Bistro on Valentines Day and they gave us a long stem rose and a cute trio of chocolates! Very nice!!!
