4 night cruise from Long Beach. Passport for Ensenada necessary ?

Three adults on our cruise do not have a passport.

They can use their birth certificate to check onto cruise, correct ?

Do they have to have a passport because of going to Ensenada ?

We usually just have to show our seapass to get on and off ship, right ?

I told them I would check with the experts about this question.

They really would prefer not having to get a passport, if not necessary.

Thank you in advance.

Birth Certificate (gov’t issued long form) and DL are fine to use.

To get off the ship you need your ship card. To get ON the ship you’ll need your ship card and DL.

Unless:

1. You get in late to departure city and have to fly to first port outside the U.S.

2. You get sick or injured in a foreign port and miss the departure time.

3. You get detained, rightly or wrongly, by the local authorities and miss the departure time.

4. Your local tour gets back late and you miss the sailing time.

5. You need to return home early for illness, emergency, work, etc.

Ensenada is one of the few cruise ports I’d have no problem using a passport card if you do not want to get a passport book. Ensenada is about 4 hours south of Long Beach without traffic or delays at the border.

Ensenada is no different than any other port on a closed loop cruise. Any cruise starting in a USA port and ending in that USA port is a "closed loop cruise". NO passport is needed. The birth certificate and picture ID/driver's license is what you need.
