Quebec City - downtown Marriott to pier

What is the "best" way to get from the Marriott in Quebec City to the cruise ship pier 22?

I assumed a taxi, but using Google Maps it gave me a strange route - going aways North then coming back down.

I know that it is not very far.

Am I missing something?

Yeah, you're missing the big cliff you have to descend :D. The Marriott is in Upper Town, the cruise port is in Lower Town, and there's only so many roads linking the 2.

ETA: I just did the search on Google maps. The route they give is ridiculous. I can think of at least 3 routes that are better, with this one probably the best: https://www.google.ca/maps/dir/Quebec+City+Marriott+Downtown/Le+Terminal+-+Port+of+Qu%C3%A9bec/@46.8140874,-71.2131763,16.5z/data=!4m31!4m30!1m20!1m1!1s0x4cb895df57acdd2d:0x31074d23f223be90!2m2!1d-71.2145377!2d46.8117344!3m4!1m2!1d-71.2110163!2d46.8149022!3s0x4cb895dfba9482f9:0xd18cb5dbb89f8de8!3m4!1m2!1d-71.2124038!2d46.815663!3s0x4cb895dfed517473:0x3791c5f95839adcf!3m4!1m2!1d-71.2006062!2d46.8159456!3s0x4cb895e7940e1e9b:0x188d0ebf019d9ff0!1m5!1m1!1s0x0:0x62fa4b27e447d885!2m2!1d-71.2005045!2d46.8169225!2m1!1b1!3e0 (ignore the right-left-left turns at the end, to get to the terminal it's a straight shot from Quai Saint-André St.)

A taxi is your best bet.

Thanks - that route makes more sense. I trust that the taxi will follow that route!

We took the taxi from Downtown Marriott Quebec to the pier in 2015. We'd allotted about 30 CAD, but it kept going up and up. We got stuck in a long traffic jam, and the taxi driver charged both time and distance.

BTW, that Marriott has a wonderful breakfast buffet, but at the time they were closed for lunch (even room service).

Thanks for the heads up. I wonder if there are other options?

I don’t understand their problem. Long line of backed up cars, then rather short line when we got to the embarkation tent. We were not the only ship in port. Left hotel around 11 am.

At least they refunded some of our port fees. Dragging our luggage up a steep frozen gangplank was not too fun. But I think they’ve expanded since we were there.

I checked Google Maps again. You can actually take a No. 11 bus virtually door-to-door. It's a longer route, but through Old Quebec so at least it's picturesque :).

Is this even possible with luggage? We are going on an 11 day cruise, so will have larger pieces than just carryons.
