I will be looking forward to your report. We leave on Nov 7 for an Amawaterways river cruise down the Danube, so I probably won't follow as much in real time as I usually do, but will catch up when I get back.

As we will be on board the Spirit for the 'fall crossing' on the 7th, just wanted to wish you and George both Bon Voyage and safe travels... all the best

Have a really wonderful time time. We will be looking forward to hearing about your trip when you return.

Oh- and as you go. Need to read more carefully!

And all you other lucky people about to take off- have wonderful voyages. And tell us all about them when you return.

If its the same as on the svalbard trip in June, it's not for anything heavy, it's not waterproof nor water resistant. It's fine for your metal water bottle and something else light but don't trust it for expensive cameras!

Agree--do not expect it to be waterproof because it isn't.

Don't most zodiacs have dry boxes for things like cameras?

Not the ones I have been on. And I have been on plenty. A lot of times you are going to want your camera out to take pictures from the zodiac. But especially in the Galapagos, unless it is raining, you won't really get wet riding in the zodiac, except for your feet on a wet landing.

U definitely need your camera around your neck in the Galapagos, there are non stop photo opportunities and u don't want to miss a thing. Forget about the dry box!:)

I took a normal camera and a waterproof camera. I used the waterproof one a lot especially when swimming with the turtles & the seals :D

U are going to have a fantastic time.

Cheers

Jennifer

I will have both and will carry my canon in a ziplock bag wrapped in a towel. Going from a cool zircon situation to the hot humid air can cause condensation. The towel keeps the camera dry and the plastic bag keeps out slashes on the zodiac.. Once it warms up things are fine. Looking forward to trying my waterproof one- wish I had had one years ago.
