Beach and Umbrella Rental in Cannes?

We will be sailing on NCL Epic June 2019. While in Cannes we would like to rent chairs/umbrella and spend the afternoon on the beach. Is this an option? If so, is the beach in a location close enough for us to walk to from the port?

The closest beach to the tender pier is the Midi. A benefit of this beach is that its free (unless you decide to rent a chair) and its sandy :). You might laugh about my "sandy" comment but a lot of beaches in the south of France are full of pebbles and would not even be considered a beach in our country.

Any beach restaurant recommendations?

I assume you mean beach concessions that rent lounges and umbrellas and have a restaurant by the entrance. All the beach restaurants have their menus posted by the entrance. Just stroll around and check them out. You don't need to go to the beach to eat in any of them. You can also base your decision of where to rent your lounge and umbrella on the restaurant's menu.

If you mean restaurants that do not have beach concessions, the answer is the same. Stroll around and look at the menus, look at what people are eating, etc.

The best advice is to have the "plat du jour" or daily special. It will have the best price and be the freshest. Or order the Salade Niçoise -it comes from this area. If you like wine, the way to order the house wine is to ask for a "pichet" or carafe of the house rose (or red or white). It comes in sizes of 1 liter, demi (half) or quart (1/4 liter). It should be a good area wine.

Beach restaurants....NONE! The decent restaurant/cafes are not located directly on the beach in Cannes. In most cases you might have to cross the street to find decent eating venues. When it comes to lunch we like to walk around and look at the daily specials (plat du jour or menu de jour) which are usually posted on paper or a chalk board. Some of the beach areas adjacent to the major hotels do have food service on the beach, but we have never tried it. Personally, we prefer the Plage du Midi and have even used that beach when staying in Cannes (we book a hotel near that beach). We have never been impressed by the beach along the Croisette although the people watching is better in that area.

Ideally I'm looking for a place on the beach to rent a lounger and get a snack/drinks. A place with a pool would be fantastic! It does not have to be the best restaurant as I'm not really planning on eating more than a snack.

That's what I thought. Look at the menus and decide. Or if you go to a public beach that rents chairs, like at Midi, look for food trucks, traîteurs or stands along the way. Some of them may also have a restaurant or snack bar. Buy a pan bagnat. This is the classic sailors' sandwich and perfect for the beach. It is a salade niçoise on a round bread. You can also get a piece of pissaldière, a caramelized onion and anchovy tart.

You will not find a place with a pool.

The beaches with private concessions and restaurants are East of the port along the Boulevard de la Croisette. The beach du Midi has several free beaches and reasonably priced concessions. It is the stretch of beach west of the port alongside the Boulevard du Midi. Zoom in to get an idea of the area.
