Hi, Has anyone gone to Fishermans cove in Halifax, & how did you get there? We were thinking of going there instead of Peggys Cove. Its only 20 min. from cruise ship, where it take almost an hr. to get to Peggys cove & it sounds like to many tourist.

We went there on our tour (instead of Peggy's tourist Cove) with our guide Paul McNeill of Halifax Historical Titanic Tours... We also ate lunch there...It was a beautiful place...a really quaint area not the usual tourist area you usually see.

We were planning on renting a car and stopping at Fisherman's Cove, but the more I looked into it, the less appealing it became. You could also see the area as the ship came into the port, and it did not look like much. Having visited Peggy's Cove, I'm not a huge fan of that spot either. Nice view, but basically a tourist trap with overpriced and underwhelming food options. Our last visit to Halifax, we walked up to the Citadel and then made our way back to the waterfront and walked along it which was really nice. Lots of decent food options there as well.

Fisherman's Cove is a small fishing port in Halifax Harbour. The scenic backdrop includes the container port across the harbour. The various shop and restaurant buildings are totally touristy.

Peggy's Cove is overwhelmed by tourists but is the real deal: a tiny fishing cove in a small inlet from huge rocks at the open Atlantic Ocean.

You can easily spend your day in downtown Halifax.
