REGANPETE Posted August 30, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2018 Hi We are looking into an 8 night Southern Carribean Cruise from Florida in November and there are some concerns about the 2 sea days to get there and back. Does anyone know if we should expect rough seas ? Is the ship moving quickly to get there in 2 days ? What was your experience? Regan
Trueblueky Posted August 31, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 31, 2018 My crystal ball doesn't go out that far, but November is late hurricane season.
TXCruiser10 Posted August 31, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 31, 2018 We did 2 weeks in the Southern Caribbean last December and will sail their again this December. We had no problems with the sailing. The Souther Caribbean has been, by far, our favorite itinerary. Enjoy!
Mike981 Posted August 31, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 31, 2018 You can't play the weather game. Just know that if there is bad weather, you most likely will miss a port or two but will be safe. And that can happen anytime of year, but more common in the hurricane window.
zqvol Posted August 31, 2018 #5 Share Posted August 31, 2018 Until you actually reach the Caribbean, which is south of Puerto Rico, there is no telling what the seas will be like. Usually south of PR things are quieter, but I have been in some really rough seas in that area. I would not be surprised if you have some very rough seas even if there are no storms around. The north Atlantic has been known to be rough.
CntPAcruiser Posted November 14, 2018 #6 Share Posted November 14, 2018 We've done this sort of itinerary several times, and yes, they will be doing top speeds on the longer stretches to cover some of those distances. Often they will slow down during meal service (and the ice show, possibly). You may feel more motion on the first day out and the last day or so returning, particularly if you are exposed to the Atlantic side, as others have mentioned.
