On our Dream cruise on January 7, we signed up for the Meet & Mingle. We got invitations sent to our cabin. It was also listed on the paper copy of the Fun Times but not on the Hub Fun Times. I coerced about 11 or 12 members of my group into attending. There was one other couple there. The meeting was in a hard-to-find reception room. There were pastries, cookies, tea and punch on a side table. We were in a big empty room, so we pulled up chairs into a circle. A waiter said that the cruise director and a ship's officer would be attending. Neither showed up. We waited around for about 30 or 40 minutes. I was embarrassed that I got people to attend.

Which is why they are wasting their time supporting it.

We are 9 days away from our cruise so hopefully as new to Cruise Critic we can meet you all - missed the two week deadline - how will I know when it happens on Splendor on Feb 10th departure?

They send a paper invite to the cabins who registered during your cruise. We received ours the day before. So you will have to hope that someone in your cruise group posts this information to you group Facebook page, if you have one.

We attended our Meet n Mingle 2 weeks ago on our cruise. We were all expecting it to be held the first sea day, but NOPE - happened wednesday (over halfway through the cruise!) on a PORT day, 30 minutes after the ship left port at 5:30 PM. So basically the attendance was pretty low since some people were still showering and cleaning up after being in port all day, and out of the ones who were there half of us had to leave early because of 6pm dining times. They provided some tea, lemonade, and water as well as some cookies and pastries. A ship officer and our CD stopped by. But honestly, it was kind of a waste of time. This either needs to happen on the first sea day or not at all. I won't go to another one.

Editing to say ours was held in the piano bar.

On the February 10th sailing of the Sunshine, our M&G was held on the 1st sea day at 1 PM in the Red Frog Cantina. It was well attended, since our group from another social media sight also had our M&G at the same time. Since many of us were in both groups, it worked out well...

We sailed on the Carnival Breeze on 2/25.

Signed up for the roll call but did not sign up for the meet and mingle since I had read about people not showing and did not want to be "one of them".

I didn't see this as an issue since the minimum had already been met.

Decided to crash, so when we boarded on Sunday I went to Guest Services and asked for info on the meetup.

She wrote all the details down - Monday 10am - 11am at the Piano Bar. 37 people signed up to attend.

I also saw it listed in the Fun Times as well.

We dallied at breakfast and didn't get to the Piano Bar until 10:15.

A nice sign showing the room was reserved for the Cruise Critic Meet and Mingle was outside.

There was a lovely setup with a variety of juices, coffee, tea, sandwiches and pastries.

2 older couples (in their 70s) were over in the corner playing a card game.

We asked if they were there for Cruise Critic.

They said no, but that there had been 3 Cruise employees there until a few minutes ago waiting to serve our group, but since no one had showed after 10 minutes they left and told them they could use the facility.

My wife and I waited for about 20 minutes (during which time we unwrapped the snacks and helped ourselves.)

By 10:40, some cruise employees showed up, saw no one was really there and began dismantling it.

VERY disappointed that out of 37 people, only two party crashers bothered to attend.

My wife commented that this must be what people were talking about, and how if she was Carnival she would be pretty upset that they had gone to all the trouble to lay out a nice setup and no one bothered to show.

I've been to two. In 2016 on Valor only about 12 showed up but there was almost a prize for everyone as they had ships on a stick and champagne. No bar, no drinks, just juice, coffee and danish. Just off Conquest, CD Mat and I think his boss showed up and maybe one other, but a lot more people that the other one (and many did not get invite) Invite was like a bookmark and I almost missed it as it was 10:30am on 1st sea day. No prizes, no drinks, just the juice, coffee, danish thing. Just chatting, my family was bored and left after 1/2 hr and then they took a picture. We received copies in our stateroom - just wished my family stayed to be in it. Hubby said cruise critic was my thing anyway.

Unless you have an active roll call where people want to meet it is a waste of time.

Better to have one at sail away and whoever shows up shows up.

Couldn't agree more.....

We just got off an 8 day cruise, they held
CC/CCL M&M on Day 7 at 2pm?
There were several other activities going on at 2pm... Do the math, a few hours later, dinner, show etc...and then packing day! There were only 12 people there, didn't see any of them ever again..."Great M&M" Carnival/Cruise Critic...

I am done with the so called CC/CCL sponsored M&M's. I will just grab a bag of M&M's in the Candy Store and call it a day!:):)

I am trying to sign up and it won’t let me put in the sail date

Is your cruise more than 5 days? That could the reason. :)

If not, I would not spend a lot of time trying to register....... It is not very well supported by Carnival. CC...tries, but it is still a toss up to get a M&M turnout more than 6-8 people. Especially on the last Sea Day!!

On our Sunshine cruise ladt February, I was signed up for the CC meet and greet. I was also in charge of setting up the M&G for our 400+ group for another social media site. Carnival said they couldn't set aside a room for such a large group, but we could meet in the Red Frog Pub and they would provide a couple ships-on-a-stick and a couple bottles of champagne. So, the group decided to meet in the Pub at 2 PM on the first sea day. After we got back to our room the first night, there was a card on our desk saying that the CC M&G was scheduled for the first sea day....at 2 PM....in the Red Frog Pub....go figure. Since many of us were members of both CC and our social media group, we went ahead with our M&G anyway. Needless to say, we had a great turn out [emoji16]

28-Apr-18 My wife and I sailed a (7) day on the conquest, of all the Meet and Mingles we have been to this was the best by far! It started with A very nice invitation, on our bed that you could not miss. So there was no need to check the Fun Times! It was held in the piano bar that they now call the blues bar, right behind the alchemy bar. Carnaval had nicely arranged juices coffee and tea along with pastries and cookies with napkins and plates. They had an individual there representing the ship, and A photographer that took a picture of all of us. And my wife and I each, got A picture for free. That was delivered in our state rooms later on the cruise.

So job well done!

Glad to hear this. Maybe Carnival and Cruise Critic are getting things together on the M&Gs....

Our meet n greet was mid-week at 5pm in the piano bar. Although 33 had signed up through cruisecritic, there were only about 10 people, if that, there. The CD Cookie stopped in briefly - no pics were taken. There were juices, tea, etc and some yummy cookies. It was disappointing that so few people showed up, but being mid-week on a port day at 5pm, I'm not really surprised. I think turnout would be better on the first sea day either mid morning or mid afternoon. That way, people are not tired from being in port all day, rushing to get ready for dinner or simply not interested in meeting new people halfway through the cruise. They may prefer to meet people early on in case they decide to explore a port together. Or if nothing else, getting ideas on what to do in various ports.

We helped arrange a Meet and Greet on a Princess ship a few years ago. Cruise Critic didn't have anything to do with the communication. We contacted the cruise line and told them we were interested in having a meet and greet of Cruise Critic cruisers. Princess was new to the whole Meet and Greet gatherings....we got the feeling that they were not big supporters but Princess gave us the name of the contact person within their organization that would help organize the meeting. The M & G was announced in their daily newsletter. The Cruise Critic members made it fun. We had a pub crawl, a cabin crawl which included a game with cards to see who had the best poker hand at the end by picking up a card at each cabin we visited. And I think Princess set up a contest in the casino for us. There were no refreshments and no members of the staff arrived but we had fun meeting all the folks we had "met" on the CC board.

Maybe there is a person at Carnival that should be included in the communication to be sure it all comes together.

Laura, I sent an email but have not got a response will try again. Our cruise Line is Carnival and its an 8 day cruise on Horizon 9/22/18. We now have 131 signed up for the meet and mingle. there has been some negativity as to not getting notice of the meet. I am trying to head up ours so this doesn't happen who is in charge of getting our room and refreshments on board who can I contact. I want to be sure its announced so all can attend. the informational note here says we will get a invitation in our cabin who sends those out? I just want a successful meet and mingle. Marilyn Oil Lady (sailaway02@hughes.net) thanks Laura in advance for a speedy reply.
