So I guess that means that, among the Carnival Corp "family", Orlando Ashford is doing the job he was hired to do for HAL? ( Even though many of us question just where he is taking HAL).

Not necessarily - it depends upon how HAL added to Carnival's total bottom line ;)

Good news on the dividend but not surprising. Markets have been favouring good performing stocks and CLL has been climbing steadily.

Interesting observation, especially considering that a lot of "good performing stocks" are in companies that pay little or no dividends.

Different stocks work differently but here, in Canada, most of the "good performing stocks" and actually top in the TSX do pay dividends and good ones at that ;)

Some of the largest (and very profitable) companies in the US do not pay dividends, including many that you probably recognize, such as: Berkshire Hathaway, Amazon.com, Facebook, Google, eBay, Yahoo, Priceline.com, Adobe, Biogen, American International (AIG), etc., etc.

Does this mean that none of these stocks is listed on TSX?

Bought my CCL stock in 2012 at $30 and at the time the dividend was 25 cents/quarter. Stock has more than doubled and dividend has now up 80% since then. Plus all the stockholder OBC we have gotten over the years - made this the best investment ever!

Many of them are not. TSX is the Candian stock exchange. Some Canadian stocks are now listed on the Dow (like RBC) but the reverse is not always true.

Here is the listing - feel free to check for yourself. https://www.tmxmoney.com/en/research/listed_company_directory.html

Agree Dave, I bought under $35 after reading the boards on the OBC.

Even though I buy stocks for investment, I looked on this as a dual investment. I get tax free OBC in U.S. $ (exchange rate is a killer) and a good stock.

The OBC has given me over a 15% dividend on it's own at least so I have been a happy camper especially while I am cruising. It's the one stock I have told my FP is not open to discussion. ;)

Bought in at 32....Financial Planner strongly advised against the buy....turns out he knew next to NOTHING about CCL or cruises in general...no idea of the expansion in Asia and Australia etc.

Perhaps the best investment ever considering price, OBC, dividends etc. I do like the idea of owning stock in a company that some kid on a laptop can't put out of biz by coming up with a better online "ship"....unless he has a few hundred million bucks he/she is not likely to go into the cruise ship biz.

We got the same reaction when we bought around 26! Dozens of cruises an dividends later, we're the ones smiling now!
