Proposed European Visa System

I just read this in The Age.

 

From 2020, Australians (and presumable many others) will be required to apply for an online visa to enter Europe.

 

Seen as an anti-terror and illegal immigration effort.

 

As the article says, this cuts across a number of waiver agreements in place with specific countries.

Interesting, but not really surprising

Yes it’s not surprising. They can’t keep the boat people out, but they can make it just that little bit harder for middle class Australians to get in. It’s the modern way of law enforcement. Make it look as if you are efficient by inconveniencing all the normal law abiding citizens and not dealing with the real problem.
