Isla de Margarita, Venezuela

Not sure I've seen many ships stopping there recently, but a few years ago we took a tour to Isla La Tortuga. Essentially it was a party boat to a deserted beach. Was great fun at the time but the next day wasn't so good! There is a little market at the port as well.

I think you'll need to really research this before you go and book anything as the political situation is really volatile at the minute. Hope that helps. David

Our Holland American cruise is stopping at Isla de Margarita next year. It is an island off the coast of Venezuela, not the mainland and, to my knowledge, they are not having issues.

I am aware of the issues mainland Venezuela is having and trust the cruise line to cancel the port if it is unsafe. This same cruise line cancelled our Egyptian ports a few years ago due to safety issues when I felt it would have been safe.
