Skagway White Pass train/bus....fog in July?

We would like to take the train/bus White Pass tour. I read on a review that the person recommended the bus 1st as fog maybe an issue and viewing may not be as good.

Can anyone comment on fog in July? Is it very common? The options we're looking at are: train 1st--7:30am or bus 1st 8:30am. Also, would it be harder to get a good seat on the train (crowds) on one or the other?

I have had clear days in July and also had a very foggy day in July.

It is a toss up and impossible to predict. I don't think it matters which you do first.

These times are insignificant, fog can and does occur any time.

I'd suggest booking the time that you prefer. The train, with getting on in Fraser, has a lot if not most people getting off there. So seating should not be any problem. Just know what side to sit on. :)

Our experience is the same.

Could be a clear day or on the other hand a day with very poor visibility.
