Does anyone know if NCL Casino at Seas program offer "free cabin" deals on a scheduled basis or just after cruising? I had received a few in the beginning of the year and am cruising on one in August. I am new to NCL - usually cruise on Carnival on Bounce Back offers and I just got one but the only NCL cruise I did I found the comps were better or at least easier to understand.

I guess what I am asking is for any information regarding the Casino at Seas and how often they extend offers, ect. I realize it is based on play but I seemed to get offers in Jan and then April but nothing since then. I am not complaining just curious.

I've always just called CAS with a specific cruise date. You will be comped depending on your previous play. I've been comped from balconies to suites and have never waited for an offer.

Reading from other posters it seems the minimum would be a 10% discount.

If you have a specific cruise in mind, give CAS a call and see what they can do for you. The number is 877-752-9625.

Good luck!

I was cruising NCL on certificates from land-based (CET) casinos. Then I started reading everything here and learned....just call CAS directly a week or so after you return from your cruise. When I've had a winning cruise, they offer me an inside cabin. On two other cruises they offered me an Ocean-view. CET always offers me balconies but I gamble more $$ in Las Vegas than I do on the ship. I can be happy in an ocean-view from CAS, or pay an upgrade from an inside.

My first NCL casino experience was in March on the Getaway and today I received my first offer. Good for inside cabin on 8 different ships, mostly November and December sailings. The nice thing about this offer is even with an inside cabin you got one "perk," including their unlimited beverage package. More perks if you upgraded.

That's great! Just be sure about the promos. In my experience you only get the promos/number of promos that went with your original 'inside'. Not additional if you upgrade. They may have changed, so be sure to ask the nice folks at CAS when you contact them. I have found that most all of them are very nice about answering questions or researching further for you.

They have been offering the 4 perks if you book a suite or Haven for about 6 months now but I do not know that they do the same for upgrades up to balcony/minisuites because I usually get comped at least that.

I just booked a comped H7 (upgraded to H6) but the perks are kinda crappy so if they change them up to prepaid DSC/OBC I will have them "rebook" me with those perks.

OP, you will find after sailing on your first comp you do not have to wait for an offer, the points from your cruise are updated by Wendesday after you get off the ship so you can call them any time after that to see what your next offer is. I gain a new comp every time I sail. The one I just booked was based off of my January cruise and I sailed after that so I have more comps "banked".

A friend of mine received her first comp from Resorts AC and I called for her after we sailed and asked what her comp level would be (She tiered up to hot on that sailing) for 2 different cruises, on a 7 day she gets a balcony and a 14 night an inside so she decided on the balcony. I wound up calling the welcome back reward desk for her and ordered her a FCC so she will have an extra $75 OBC attached to that reservation as well as the $75 food/beverage credit applied by the casino. I just received it last night in my email last night so I am booking her in the adjoining cabin to my suite, she's very happy with that news.

If you are comped a H category cabin (Haven) then you would definitely get all if the promos anyone purchasing a H cabin would get. To clarify, I was just advising that before paying to upgrade from a non-suite to a suite cabin, please ask the CAS agent if you would then qualify for all the promos that come with a suite.

In my past experience, if you are comped an inside, and you pay the upgrade fee to a balcony, you would only get promos with the original level comped. I have been getting 4 or 5 cruises comped and booked thru CAS per year for the last two years. At times an inside gets zero promos while a balcony gets one or two. Sometimes an inside will get one promo while higher categories get two or Suites get all promos. Just advising to be sure of what you get before you pay the upgrade fee. And if they have changed that, I hope someone will advise us:)

Yes it has changed for suites, for about 6 months now if you upgrade through CAS you get all 4/5 perks. I don't know how long it will be in effect but it was in effect as of Tuesday when I spoke to my rep

That is interesting! And it certainly makes the upgrade more attractive!

I believe the standard CAS upgrade from Inside to Ocean view is $90 per person; upgrade Inside to Balcony was $320 per person.

Can you tell us what CAS charges to upgrade to Haven?

It depends on the sailing and depends on your comp but I can tell you they are more expensive then they used to be. The last 2 rooms I booked was a comped suite H7/H9 and I upgraded to the H6 for 500 pp (This was a 7 night) but the 14 nighter the Haven upgrade was about 6K so I passed on it and booked the M1. I plan on using the upsell office at the end, I can score a haven for 500-750 pp. $1500.00 is better then $6000.00.

We have just had one H9 and that was a special 'gift' directly from Caesars. I was happy that the admin fees and port charges were just the same as my regular balconies or ocean-view. Good luck on the upsell!

What is the Welcome Back reward desk?

It's an Future cruise reward that you can purchase within 30 days of sailing. The difference is instead of $100/$125 obc that you get when you buy them onboard they apply $75 on the cruise you use the FCC for. My friend wasn't sure if she would get a straight comp from NCL so she decided to buy it afterwards when she found out she would.

Yeah I could have take the straight comp but the deck 9 balcony is worth the extra money and I also wanted the adjoining cabin next door. I had the H9 a few times but I never use the spa so it was a waste for me.

I've seen pictures of those balconies. Would love to have a good upsell to one of those!

  • 2 months later...

I have only been on one NCL cruise (last March) and since then I have given 4 or 5 separate free cruise offers either by postcard or email. One offer was for a 7 night Bermuda cruise in a basic Balcony, which I booked. I got 2 free at sea packages with it. They do still charge a "Fee" for the comp but it is minimal compared to what I would have paid as a regular cruiser. I did upgrade to an extended Balcony and my total charge came to $830 for a family of 4. That includes all fees, taxes, and 3rd/4th passenger charges. I also called the CAS directly on a non-promoted cruise that I wanted to do with a friend. I gave them the date and they said they could give me a free interior. I paid for an upgrade to an AFT Balcony cabin and was given 2 free at see packages. With fees, port taxes, upgrades that came to $500. I wish I was retired so that I had the free time to take full advantages of all these free offers. I am amazed that my level of play would get me all these offers. I only played slots late at night after going to shows but did win several nice jackpots that I would play back in. My winnings basically covered all my nightly play and I got to Hot level which earned me a $250 OBC added to my account at the end of the cruise. If they continue to give free offers like this, it would be worth going on your first cruise and play slots heavy so that you can more than get that money back by earning more free future cruises. They re-rate the players once a year so I have no idea if I will continue to get these offers, but I plan to make the most of it as long as I can! I previously cruised on Royal and Carnival but I am now NCL all the way.

I just received a complimentary cabin offer in the mail from Casinos at Sea last week. When I called to book the Getaway for November, I found that the complimentary cabin was really not free. In addition to the Port Charges and Taxes of about $150(which I expected to pay) they added a PROCESSING fee of $200 plus another fee of 20 something. I have sailed three other times with NCL in a complimentary cabin through CAS and never paid those additional fees. It seems that NCL is being not so honest in how they present these offers ever since they started all of these pick up to five free offer deals. This really rubbed me the wrong way, I felt like my intelligence had been insulted.

Around the same time, I received a Pack n Play offer from Carnival. They tell you exactly what your offer is without any hidden fees. I booked a cabin (I sail solo) for $200 plus Port charges and taxes and I will receive $100 back in OBC. This is the fifth time I have gone with Carnival in the past two years.

I do enjoy NCLs ships but Carnival has become my go to Line.

I haven't gone back to Carnival, yet......

But I wanted to backup what you said about the Admin Fees NCL charges nowadays.

Agree, my past Freebie Ncl comp cruises from CET did NOT include any addl Admin fees, like an extra $250 for no good reason.

But they do Now.

It does make me take pause.....

If you go back and look at your CET cruises you should find there has been that type of fee but perhaps called a different name.

I've been cruising several years in CAS cabins. All of my CET (I'm SevenStars) certificates have had a charge that has gone through several name changes. It used to be 160, then has slowly grown to 200 per person per week. It's been called 'non-commisionable fare' and 'admin fee' and probably several other things but it's always been there.

When we started calling CAS directly for a comp, the per week fee has remained the same as our CET cabins. We will probably continue to cruise on CET (balcony) certificates and direct from CAS (Oceanview) for 4 or 5 cruises a year as we have enjoyed NCL.

What has changed is the 18% fees added to some of the promos like UBP. First there was no charge, then that fee has climbed from around 65 to 99 or so. We still find these cruises to be just what we want to do and the comps that come with our status with CAS have been easy to understand.

You have to decide what works best for you. I've been reading on these forums about those cruising on casino invites from other lines and it appears less clear about getting a comped cabin from them. CAS has always been very honest and easy to deal with when we call about booking a cruise.

It's just like Vegas in a way. With CET I know exactly what comps I can get. With MGM they want you to stay and play heavily for a few days and then they will see what they can comp for you. One nasty to deal with 'host on duty' at MGM has lost our business.

'Free "is certainly misleading, but I still find my cost is usually less than 1/2 of what I would pay if I did not have the comp Just booked BA mini suite for August (1st available for free 3rd person) for myself, DH and 6 yo grandaughter with beverage package . Cost $1400 It would cost more to take her on a beach getaway

Just booked a cruise with CAS. The CAS original offer was for a mini suite which came with a "pick 2 of the 5 free offers".

We decided to pay the difference and upgrade to a suite. To my surprise we get all 5 of the offers. As Sand and Seas noted in their post, in the past this was not the case - you only got the free promos that came with you original offer.

Might change again in the future, but for now, this is how it is. Nice surprise especially since the 18% service charge for the UBP and SDP is waived for suites.:)

I just started playing the slots on our last cruise. Around how many points on the players card do I need to start receiving comps? Thank you

It may depend on how often you sail and how much you play per cruise. If they notice your play during the cruise they might (but not always) start sending goodies to your room and you could get free drinks in the casino. If you are talking about tier status that guarantees you comps on board, that starts at 5000 pts earned in their evaluation period. (April 1st to March 31st) The comps at that range start with things like free drinks in the casino and OBC. You could also earn anything from a discount on your next cruise to a comped cabin of Inside or higher. Higher tiers get more benefits on each cruise during that year and for the next year.
