Sweats? Is that's how he dresses at home too? LOL

I saw quite a few people wearing jeans in the MDR but the specialty restaurants do have a different dress code.

Pet peeve...bathrobes in the buffet area at breakfast (or anytime)....it is not your kitchen LOL

Clothes don’t have to be uncomfortable. I have a pair of black Eddie Bouer ‘Tarmac to Trail’ pants that are super comfy and versatile. He probably doesn’t like clothes that bind and that he can’t move freely in. Get him polos and the like.

We just returned from the Sky and unlike other NCL ships, the sky has a "cruise casual" dress code for BOTH restaurants. There is no requirement to wear pants in the formal dining rooms in the evenings.

My husband would like to wear his sweats to the dining room for dinner. Is that a bad idea? What could he wear if he cant wear jeans? He wont dress up or anything.

It was suggested for him to wear shorts and the OP said he doesn't wear shorts either.

Hi cruisekitty22,

The dress code for the Sky is different than the rest of the NCL fleet.

We sailed on the Sky 2/9/18-2/12/18.

The daily indicated that the dress code at ALL restaurants was 'casual'.

We got dressed up for Cagney's thinking that the 'casual' didn't apply to the specialty restaurants. We were wrong.

We observed a few male diners in shorts and flip flops and one dude had a tank top on, which I guess falls under NCL's definition of 'casual'

If your husband wants to wear sweat pants to the MDR, I doubt he will have a problem.

While still in port in Miami we observed a coupld of 20 something year old guys walking around in the atrium with jeans on and no shirts. No, they weren't coming from the pool deck, rather, we assumed they figured they were in their living rooms and just felt like walking around sans any form of shirts.

We watched a woman walk around barefooted the entire cruise, to include during embarkation. We kept seeing her on the cruise, no shoes. In the atrium, in the casino, in Longboards bar. She never had shoes on and evidentially no shirt- no shoes does NOT mean no service on the Sky.

Aside from that we did have a great time on the Sky.

Enjoy your cruise

Regards,

Vinegarjoe

I'm sorry. I just can't understand why anyone would refuse to wear a dressy pant for 2-3 hours at night. Was he raised in a barn? Just because some people have no taste and no consideration for others, doesn't mean the rest of us should let it all go. A few years ago women were wearing full formals to dinner and the men, tuxes on formal night. Now a white wife-beater seems okay. The cruise lines try to have some standards but they can't very well offend their passengers or they will lose passengers. So it is up to us to have some sort of taste.

Honestly, I don’t understand this “problem” either, but the OP clearly stated her husband will wear nothing but sweats...so he can either 1)not abide by the dress code or he can 2)choose to eat in the buffet or he could 3)choose to stay home and wear whatever he wants. You and I apparently live in a different, albeit more fashionable world Grandma 😎

These kind of threads always bring the preachers and people casting judgment on others. NCL has a casual, "freeystyle" dress code. The Sky is even more casual than the rest of the fleet. The ship is in a different port every day. You come back to the ship extremely casual and eat extremely casual. If you want to get dressed up that is wonderful but stop judging others who are on a Caribbean vacation and dressed in shorts or sweat pants.

To answer the OP's question: Yes sweatpants are fine. I see lost of sweatpants at breakfast since that is how they sleep. The only places you cant wear them is Le Bistro, one MDR at dinner. Even Cagneys allows shorts and jeans so I don't think they specifically ban sweat pants.

Its your vacation. Live it up!
