Entertainment reveal???

Eden by day may be a nice area..It has a cafe, bar and varied seating. No interest in "out there " performances but if they leave us alone it could be a nice spot to relax, chat, listen to calm music read..and the ramp may go up to a nice sitting area.

From the exotic costumes to the high tech theater, they seem to be going for a Cirque Du Soleil vibe. As someone who has seen and loved most of the Cirque shows in Vegas, I’m intrigued by this.

I’m sorry, there is NOTHING appealing about the renderings with snake/lizard man or the acrobatics. There’s a fine line - or maybe no line at all where reptile costumes are involved - between interactive and annoying.

 

What are the folks at Celebrity thinking? The entertainment at NCL is fabulous and we don’t even like cruise ship entertainment! I’m pretty sure the millenials I know would fall down laughing at snake/lizard man. Or maybe that’s the point.

It looks like the early shows on the Solstice class ships of yesteryear where they had those odd shows in the theater, everyone in body suits with no singing. It was all dance and acrobatics with many coming out of the rafters. The story was hard to follow.

Of course on Edge we all know about Adam and Eve and I’m guessing the show will be about sin, decadence and the rewards of being evil.

Just my guess.

I do not actually wanna mess with Celebrity admirers, but when I see the above post with the NCL show elements, I really have to say that what I saw on NCL Getaway in 2016 - was DA BOMB :eek:

That is valid not only for the main show we had (Million Dollar Quartet) which. by that time, had the most amazing cast I ever met on a cruise ship. But it is as well valid for the second production show which was Wine Lovers Musical. Hardly ever saw something as passionate and heart warming (and I say that as a 47 year old man) on any cruise ship including Equinox and Silhouette.

My NCL entertainment experience was really first class, and I hope EDGE can match or surpass that.

There will be a lot of choices on Edge for dining and entertainment. Individuals can go (or not go) to whatever they desire. If offended by Eden, Snake Man or whatever, just simply do something else. Pretty simple.

The first authentic Cirque shows on X were awesome. Each was named for the ship it was on. We saw them each twice...once from ground level and again from the balc . They would do great in the new EDGE theatre.

When X took over its own production & staging of the aerial shows they were good , but not the same level as the Cirque shows.

We will def check out this type of show. Would love it if they called it EDGE

Looking at the Entertainment Reveal I am struck about the number of times ribbon acrobat(s) was shown in the pictures: in the Theatre, in The Club and even in Eden. Isn't the whole Cirque thing becoming a little stale? The spaces seem to be exciting and lovely (especially the Theatre), but is it really just "lipstick on a pig", the same old, same old?

Also noted was no mention of a Celebrity Orchestra. Sure, it has devolved over the years to only six or seven members, but is still enjoyable, especially with the right CD/Music Director. Is that gone also?

For those who want a quiet cabaret environment, I believe you will have to settle for a guitarist-in-a-tree?

We saw Ashlie Amber on the Summit this last May and she is very talented and did a wonderfully entertaining show.

Did she do a tribute show to Whitney Houston or more of a variety?

I agree with how stale the acrobats are. Very talented, but so over used, I don’t care if we ever see them again.

Were recently on the MSC Seaside and there were acrobats every night! We kept saying they can’t possibly have acrobats again the next night and they did!

I don’t understand why cruise line executives are still convinced that this is the only sophisticated cutting edge entertainment people want to see.

Was hoping Celebrity might finally produce some very novel main shows with Edge. I fear they are going to once again recycle Cirque-type entertainment based upon the reveal, but I guess we can hope it may turn out better.

We saw Marcus Tyrell several years ago while on a Navigator of the Seas Cruise. He is a very good singer and performer on stage. At the time he had two background singers with him that were also great. He did some Pop and Motown tunes that the entire audience could relate to and enjoy. IMO he was excellent.

We always give it a try but the videos on U tube were very loud,

I am sensitive to loud volume and flashy strobe lights.We sit near an exit so if it is too loud or bright, we can leave without disturbing others.

I do like Mowtown.,saw a great Mowtown review on a recent X cruise..can''t recall the ship

We also enjoyed the Billy Joel tribute performer...really fabulous..

"Uptown" performed on Equinox on the June 30... That was a great group. Looks like they have lined up some talented vocalists... should be great.

The Black skull show looks interesting but may be too loud and energetic for us.,,but we will surely take a look,...X could use some energy in its shows
