Anyone that has used a motorized scooter, what do you do with the scooter when you are in your room?

It's always in the room with me as it should be when not in use.

Per SOLAS ( Safety of Life at Sea ) regulations the scooter MUST be stores in your cabin when not in use and this applies to when you're in the room as well. Scooters and any other items CANNOT be left in the hallways as by doing it jeopordizes the safety of all passengers and staff in the event of an emergency. Not to mention leaving it the hallway prohibits others using mobilty equipment or strollers from being able to get through. This regulation applies to all cruise lines and most publishes this information on its website,

Parked it by the door. I have a travelscoot and we had a handicapped accessible mini suite and had plenty of room just inside the door to park it. It was never a problem. In fact we also parked my massive walker at the door too when it wasn't in use as well. We were pleasantly surprised by the amount of space we had and for 3 people and a load of mobility equipment we did just fine.

I keep it inside my cabin, unless I am just making a stop of a few seconds on the way by. I have never had an accessible cabin, but make sure I book a cabin that I know I can get the scooter into.

We have a Solax Transformer scooter and love it! Great to travel with as it folds up automatically with the push of a botton on the key fob and it folds to the size of a medium sized suitcase. Then you can just store it anywhere out of the way. Also great to take on the plane!

Regarding the Solax Transformer scooter, will you please provide more detail? I did a search and found several listings. How much does your scooter weigh?

Thank you!

It weighs 56lbs. Folds down and back up easily. We have used it now on 6 cruises, 3 of which required flying. On 2 of the trips we were on I believe a 737 which has the closet there as you enter the plane. I was able to sit it there in the bottom of the closet since it is the size of a medium suitcase. The one time we had to let them put it below with the luggage we had a long wait to get it after we landed but that was because they were looking for a regular scooter and did not realize ours was a scooter the way it was folded.

On the cruise when we go in to one of the restaurants I fold it and sit it to the side out of the way and on every cruise someone will see it folding up or unfolding and ask about it. I probably could have sold 8 or 10 by now! LOL!

The only problem we have had with it is the battery does not last as long as we would like so I bought an extra battery and charging station. On the ship it is fine but when we get off at a port I carry the extra battery in my backpack.

Mine always goes in the room with me. On the rare occasion I just need to pop into the room to get something or use the bathroom, my husband sits on mine in the hallway so he can move it if someone needs to get by. I also find an out of the way place to park it when I am in the casino. ( I can walk a short distance ) I try to be respectful of others. I wish others were respectful at the elevators. I don't want preference. I just want on when it is my turn.
