Please advise what excursions are worth it during stops in Kos, Kavala, and Volos. We have been to Mykonos and will probably opt for a private guide in Israel. Thanks for your help.

In Volos, we didn’t feel like spending 4 hours in a bus to a distant location, so we opted for a local excursion to the archeological museum (just ok) and a beautiful nearby mountain village called Makrinitsa. It was great.

That said, you should probably spend the time in the bus and go see the monasteries. They look amazing.

Just a warning. Our Regent cruise also started in Haifa, and they put us up the night before embarkation in the Dan Panorama Hotel. Despite what we read online, it was really bad. The hotel might very well have nicer rooms, but the ones Regent gave us were awful, and hadn’t been updated in years and years. It felt like a dark, dank prison cell.
