We are going to book our first River Cruise in Europe and would like information about the cabin types. Has anyone booked a water level cabin? What was your experience? If you were to do it over, would you spend the extra money for a higher cabin? Thanks!

well I just booked one

and if you DO read the info here (and I would recommend you do) I think you'll see why I was OK booking one.

On the other hand, on our return via QM2, Hamburg to NY, we opted for a balc' and many would say "to see WHAT?"

A big issue with the Vik' is understanding the "French Balcony" and noting that the footage for a balc comes out of the over all room footage (depending on the ship) and time of the year (temp')

But we're Viking virgins soooooooo, we'll see.

We did book the lower cabin and loved it. We hardly spent any time in our cabin and neither did our friends who were in veranda rooms. The small window gave us light and there are plenty of places to enjoy the views on top of the boat and in the lounge.
