Aurora (Northern Lights) excursion / DIY trip

There a tons of options - from chartered jets taking loads of people en masse from Vancouver up into the Yukon, to self-booked lodges in Alaskan interior and northern parts of Canadian provinces & territories offering night-time viewing parties with cocoa and blankets, to Iceland Airs weekend packages out of many major North American cities to Reykjaivk including hotels and aurora viewing trips to nice dark areas outside town.

Generally they're later in the year so connecting them to an AK cruise is not logistically possible without a long stay on land afterward. Still, the AK cruise season starts earlier and runs later every year it seems, so just maybe... but personally I'd be much more inclined to do a totally separate Aurora-focused vacation Dec/Jan when nights are as long as possible. If you want aurora and cruising combined, IIRC Hurtigruten offers winter aurora cruises in Norway.
