Anxious about Seaside Reviews

What does this mean?

I don't want to hijack this thread so I will keep it brief. If you gamble on cruise ships or in land based casinos, you sometimes get offers for either comped or deeply discounted cruises. I booked under one of these offers from a land based casino. Depending on the cruise line, different things are included in these offers. There is actually a section on this forum under Cruise Conversations called Cruise casinos where there is lots more information.

I also believe the trip can be what you make of it. Go in with an open mind and soak it up! I cannot wait to get back onboard. [emoji3]

And there folks should be the mantra of all holidays. There will be so much to enjoy and I’m sure there will loads of things to annoy. It’s which part of this that you concentrate on that will determine what type of holiday you have.

Correct.

The 12-vouchers perk is automatic for fantastica experience. At least that is in my limited experience.

The restaurant drink perk is a promo at time of booking.

I guess that is what we have then, restaurant drink package as a promo when we booked it, and the 12 drink vouchers which is now part of the Fantastica experience, or at least it was when we booked this cruise last January while onboard Divina. The only time I ordered a beer in the buffet, the waitress brought it to me, but I have heard there are beer and wind dispensers. We stopped eating lunch after Day 1 due to food overload! We prefer to eat breakfast and dinner only and use our drink coupons for "lunch". Every night in the MDR we get free mineral water, wine and beer without coupons.

I would echo that sentiment. Personally I avoided the CC discussion before my cruise on the Seaside but others in my party did not and were nervous about MSC in general as a result.

I’m a long time, Platinum Disney Cruiser and I had an absolutely delightful time aboard the Seaside! It really was a special trip and such a wonderful experience.

mrsbees, I am on the same sailing and I have to admit that I also have concerns. Out of 40+ cruises on various lines I have only had one that was pretty crappy (and I still had a blast), so I am not hard to please. I am sailing with my sister rather than my husband or BFF, and I really want her to have a great time as she hasn't cruised in a number of years. To keep it affordable we booked Bella. I am annoyed that there is even the possibility of eating dinner in a section of the buffet, no matter how nice they try to make it. I really don't want to have to go to battle onboard to get acceptable dinner arrangements.

I take all reviews with a grain of salt, and certainly expected issues with the Seaside on these early cruises, but I can't discount everything that I am reading, especially things that are factual rather than emotional.

Luckily I got Status Matched to Black card, so that should help with some things & I booked through the casino so we get free drinks in there, so there are some bright spots for sure. It's going to be adventure, and lucky for me even if it sucks, I will have a great time because life is too short to be miserable.

I think the story about seating in the buffet restaurant is correct. I reviewed the dailies that were posted and when you look at Marketplace Buffet and Dinner, you see "1st seating" and "2nd seating."

Tonight around 9 PM, we were walking outside and looked in at the people eating dinner at the " Marketplace Restaurant" as Seaside calls it for the 6:30 PM and 9 PM dinner settings. It looked very classy with tablecloths, flowers, table numbers and waiters serving tables. We thought it was very well done, and there were a lot of people in there. It seemed more peaceful than the MDR. I don't think it would be a bad option.

After being on the ship and seeing the marketplace dining. I would have no problem getting a Bella cabin... So your on the current cruise and it's still being used?

Yes, we are on Seaside right now, and the Marketplace "MDR" is being used, and looks very doable, not at all a bad option in our opinion. They had the lights dimmed, and it seemed more romantic than the other two MDRs which are very bright.

I wish that they never even called it a buffet. They should have just advertised it as the 3rd MDR that happens to serve a buffet during lunch hours. That would have changed the perception from the get go. From the images that I have seen, it looks quite nice.

I think you've nailed it. This is entirely a perception issue. List it as the third dining room and nobodies any wiser. Instead, people feel slighted that they've been downgraded at dinner rather than feeling happy they get to eat a buffet in the third dining room for lunch.

I totally agree about the perception issue. Perhaps since on the seaside MSc is using the Entire buffet area on deck 8 for mdr it may be fine.

On other MSc ships, they just rope off a section of the buffet tables so you are eating in the same area as the noisy buffet only your section has tablecloths and waiters.

Don't they also have some outdoor seating? I would LOVE to dine al fresco!

Outdoor seating is my absolute favorite part of the “away” ships.

We buy Speciality dining on those ships just to eat outside. Surprisingly it’s not very popular. Most people think it’s too windy or too hot, but I love it!

Someone please report back if they have some of the outside tables set up for dinner.

I would love outdoor seating. Any opportunity I get it’s sitting outside and that’s not easy here in the U.K. with our weather!
