Solo Cruiser's Roll Call

April 8 on Carnival Pride from Baltimore.

Was on the 2/4 and 3/4 with friends but booked this as a repeat casino offer and doing it solo. It helps when you've been on the ship before so you are familiar with it. I even got my own table in the dining room as it was in a great location and I loved it. E-mailed the Maitre D and it was confirmed. It was a table for 2 so at some point, if someone wants to join me, it's an option.

Did one other solo prior to this and it was great.

How did you know how to email the Maitre D?? And how far before your cruise did you make contact? Holy cow, I bow to your planning skills!! :p

I've done both solo trips and with partners - both are good experiences in different ways. Just got off the March 10th, 18 NCL Escape staying in the studios

Next up - NCL Breakaway (solo) - July 22, 2018

And then NCL Bliss (solo) - March 9, 2019

On Carnival Pride do they have solo or singles activities? I’m going with family but technically I’m a solo I’m 39 .I’m taking my teenage daughter and her friend , as well as my parents and my sister and her husband and their daughter and her boyfriend, I’m just wondering

Good for you! You're alone and a first time cruiser. Most peoplewould not do that. I bet you're going to be blown away at how great cruising is. Hope your trip is fantastic.

Been on Carnival Pride several times. It’s a great ship! Other than a solo meet and greet on the first or second evening, don’t expect any solo cruiser activities. Enjoy your independence and alone time. Just be friendly and open to meeting new people, If and when the opportunity arises. Join the Roll Call and participate in activities that interest you, such as slot pull, pub crawl, cabin crawl, etc. Even if you’re on your own most of the time, you can always have a great time, when you’re on a cruise.

Thanks Josey. There is a lot of information and positive attitude on this message board, which helped me to get over my initial apprehension.

Booked on Celebrity Millennium 8 Dec 2018, Singapore to Hong Kong. My first cruise and travelling solo. Not sure if there are many solos travelling due to the being no single staterooms available. Treated myself to a large balcony stateroom. Cannot wait! A little apprehensive about dining alone but I'm sure I'll either get used to it or make friends to dine with!

Just booked a solo cruise on NCL Bliss, Seattle to Alaska (June 30th). It's my second solo cruise (went to Cuba alone last year and it was one of the best vacations I ever had). I was so excited to see the single cabins available on this cruise, and am hoping to meet some other solo cruisers.

Just ask to sit st a large table and if you don’t like it, then just ask to be moved again. It’s not an issue! You can meet some really nice people and make new friends. Sounds like a great trip, have fun[emoji4] Don’t eat alone [emoji45]

Thanks. I am really looking forward to it. Hope I like it as I've booked NCL the following December! I may try dining alone at first and then dine with others I befriend. I'm quite shy at first so a table of 7 strangers is a little daunting to me.

Edit - NCL Bliss

I've never cruised solo but I did take my teenage granddaughter on a 14 day cruise. That means I ate alone about 3/4 of the time. :)

I never viewed it as a problem. I am friendly if spoken to but rarely speak first.

I will be solo in November but I don't anticipate any problem with it.

This is a great thread! Love hearing about everyone's solo experiences.

I've cruised once a year, solo, since 2011 and always have a wonderful time!

I'm a 68 year old female and enjoy making my own plans!

Sailing on the Ruby Princess April 8-23, 2019. 15 day Hawaii from Los Angeles.

It's a long way out! Anyone else on this sailing?

Well I am venturing out on my first solo cruise this May . My wife of 35 years passed March 10 . We had been on over 20 cruises together . Lucky for me I don't know a stranger so I am willing to meet people make friends and talk to most anyone. Kind of figure there will be lonely times but kind of need to just get away.

My saying under my name has always been there .....kind of ironic.

Enjoy your cruise! The lovely woman of 35 years and 20 cruises would want that for you.

Find the roll call for your cruise, go to breakfast, lunch, and dinner, go to the Meet & Greet. You will be surprised at how many friendly people you'll find. Chat about excursions and activities. I found that people are generally very friendly on cruises because they also want to meet new people to socialize with, solo or not. All it takes is a couple new friends and you'll be great! Take that cruise- you'll be glad you did!

My condolences go out to you and I hope you have a wonderful time. I agree with the previous poster and suggest you see if there is roll call for your cruise. It is a nice way to meet other people.:)

Hi everyone!

Name is Tamara and I'm booked on the Carnival Dream December 2018!

My last cruise was in 2013. Between then and now had a lot of major changes in my life and cruising and other travel was set aside.

I was downsized out of a job and faced with a new reality. Never had an issue finding a job, but could not find anything even after sending resumes, going to the training center, unemployment office, etc. Got the chance to return to school after being out over 25 years for career change. Did that, worked part time and going to school then working two part time jobs. Finally this year able to go full time at one of my jobs (still keeping the second for awhile) and with that vacation :)!

My 50th birthday is this year in September, but I had a choice, I could sail then with the bare basics, just to travel (still paying off some bills and other items) or wait a few months and able to enjoy a balcony (which I rarely do) the steakhouse and two nice tours. I just decided to enjoy my birthday a few months later.

Most of my cruise been solo and while I normally enjoy a great table, met great folks, decided to do YTD. Eating in the steakhouse two nights and chef table one night. One of the ports is going to be an all day and know from doing a similar tour in the past, room service or lido that night.

I cant wait to enjoy days without working two jobs or stress. Paying a lot of items way in advance also.

But so happy to be sailing again.

Asked why solo by some friends, I love just doing things on a me time. I love getting up early and watching the sunset. Enjoy sitting and people watching, savoring a book at 3 p.m. or taking a nap. Love solo cruises!

My name is Heather and I am sailing alone on the Norwegian Breakaway to 9-day Scandinavia and Russia on May 29, 2018. I am sailing alone because my husband, who also loved cruising, just passed away on March 31. I am dying to get out of this house where it happened and find some source of distraction to (hopefully) provide at least some relief from this tragedy. I am staying in a studio. I know this cruise cannot erase my pain but I am hoping I may be distracted enough for it to help, if only a little.
