Oasis and smoking areas

Hi,

I will be on the Oasis deck 7 aft port side. Will I be able to smell smoke from the outside smoking areas on the Oasis? If so is there a better deck or side so I do not smell smoke?

The smoking areas are above you on decks 15 and 16, so I doubt you will smell any smoke from those areas.

I'm so looking forward to whenever the ships will be smoke-free.

We just got off ship yesterday. Only time we smelled smoke was walking through smoking area and in the casino.

You should be fine, but the smoking area was my only complaint on the Oasis. They allowed smoking on the pool deck and it wasn't even an open area it was mostly enclosed and many people smoking cigars where everyone had to walk. It made no sense?

I agree. It makes no sense. They might as well let people spray bullets into the air. After all, on most cruises no one would get hit. In the United States, about 40,000 non-smokers (technically passive smokers) are murdered by active smokers every year.

Why don't you try walking on the other side of the ship?

They should just add a little glass room like the airports in Europe. Here is your tiny little room to smoke your cigarettes in.

Add two more to that....

I just always made it a point to walk on the other side of the ship. If we started on the wrong side, we would cross over to the other side.

Couple things I observed on our summer vacation on the Allure August 7 of this year and at the airport.

On the Allure when we were in port a lady was reading and smoking at a black jack table in smoking section........guess you can.

And

At Atlanta airport they had smoking rooms in the gate areas.

Just saying.

It was my 1st time on the ship so I didn't even think of walking on the other side of the ship, took a bit of time to get oriented. I am not against smoking areas, I spent quite a bit of time in the casino just hanging out and have no complaints about the smoking there. I have never smoked a cigarette in my life but was against the ban of smoking in bars. My comments had nothing to do with 2nd hand smoke, I just questioned the enclosed area they chose for a smoking area. I do think the smell of cigars is disgusting so I don't feel I should have to enjoy that cigar with the smoker. It is a cruise ship, so many areas that are wide open that would be good. In actuality though it really didn't bother me that bad, I just thought it was an odd location for the smoking area. I loved the ship.

I have got to say - all these complaints about smoking on cruises. I do not smoke, have never smoked, do not ever intend to smoke - but it is outdoors with fresh air all around - smoke. If walking near it bothers you, do what others do, walk on the other side. I would rather have some quiet smokers than drunk and disorderly people near me - and drinking is accepted. I drink (often) but do not behave as if I will never get another drink so I must suck it all down right now.

If walking near it bothers you, do what others do, walk on the other side. I would rather have some quiet smokers than drunk and disorderly people near me - and drinking is accepted. Agree, I am also not a smoker and never have been. I still believe in peoples' right to do it and in 2018 it's still a legal activity. I also find that smokers are the most interesting and fun people to hang out with, and glad there is an outside and inside place for them. Like you said, just avoid the smokers. btw, I'm sure I will get flamed for this but there is no such thing as an allergy to smoke. It's an irritant, like dust. To the OP, stay away from the casino, and the port side of the pool deck and you will be fine.

Smoking in areas is fine and I have no problem with it, but It can and has triggered Asthma Attacks, have witnessed it multiple times. I was 15 in car with smokers, had Asthma Attack and my Lung Collapsed. Daughter has same issues around smokers. We just avoid, no problem most of time.. None cause Allergy Attacks? Will have to disagree: There are approximately 600 ingredients in cigarettes. When burned, they create more than 7,000 chemicals. At least 69 of these chemicals are known to cause cancer, and many are poisonous.

They should just add a little glass room like the airports in Europe. Here is your tiny little room to smoke your cigarettes in.

SMOKE FREE...NOOOOO!!! If they do that, maybe they should be alcohol free!
