Sagrada Familia - Walking Distance?

We will be on RCL Symphony of the Seas and were told that the Sagrada Familia was within walking distance of where the ship will dock. Is this true?

Thank you.

You may need to give your definition of "walking distance". Depending on where your ship docks, it could take an hour or more to walk. So, it's definitely walkable. But do you want to spend that much time doing it? I think most people will use other ways of getting there -- taxi, hop on/hop off buss, metro/subway, etc.

I think it would be a long walk. We took the city shuttle from the port to the Columbus Circle and the took the Metro which has a stop near the Sagrada Familia. Best to buy tickets online so you avoid the long wait on site.

Totally agree. It'll be at least 4-5 miles each way depending on where exactly you're docked.

Take the T3 port bus ("blue bus") from the cruise terminal to the Columbus Monument at the bottom of Las Rambla. Then you can take the metro to Sagrada Familia. You will have to transfer from Line 3 to Line 2. You can print the exact steps from google maps before you travel or screenshot the directions on your phone. Be very careful/alert on the metro because the touristy routes and stations are heavily targeted by pickpockets.

Hi taxis were lined up as we left the arrivals hall. Grab a map from the small info desk and outside are port shuttle and taxi rank. We paid €15 in July and went straight to Sagrada. There is a guy who will sort you for each taxi so no queue jumping. Buy tickets for Sagrada online much easier. From there we walked back towards Las Pedrera and carried on towards Las Ramblas. The walk back is flat and easy going. Once back at the Columbus statue the port shuttle's are across the road.

What is the cost per person to use the port shuttles? Or as an alternative how far of a walk is it from the Columbus statue back to the ship? We will be on NCL Epic.

It's €3 one-way or €4 return. Here is a link all about the port bus.

It's not too far to walk. 2-3k depending on which exact dock, but the walk isn't all that pleasant. It's like an industrial area with a bridge and trucks & buses roaring by to service the ships.

Thank you. Even though we love to walk, the 3 to 4 euros sounds like it would we money well spent in this case.

We took a taxi last September and it cost 20 euros from the port to the front door of Sagrada Familia. That was for four adults on a day when the rain was hammering down - we had planned to use the metro. We got a taxi back to Placa de Catalunya and from there we walked back to the port via The Ramblas. I wouldn't advise walking to from the port to Sagrada Familia.

We took a taxi for about 20 Euros (they are lined up outside the cruise terminal) to La Sagrada Familia. Be sure to buy advance tickets as the lines can be quite long. We then walked back to the Columbus Monument via La Rambla stopping on the way for lunch and at Casa Mila. It would be a long walk without any stops. We took the port bus from the Columbus Monument back to the cruise terminal for three or four Euros.

Thank you so much. This sounds like what we will do.

We did the same. We took the port bus to Columbus Monument but then walked to Sagrada Familia and back. We stopped along the way at cafes etc. We are walkers and enjoyed the walk very much. You also can plan your walk to go buy a couple of other Gaudi buildings. Even if you don't pay for the admission, it is nice to see the buildings up close.

Walking in BCN is lovely - but not to the ship. I have sat on my balcony waiting to depart, watching people arrive by foot trundling their suitcases. I have never quite understood why, they look so tired out. The same distance through a tourist area does not have the same draining effect.
