Hi!

Hi there! I'm Holly, new to cruising, first one to be in August (although not decided which line yet). I'm on a losing mission too. I used to have a kidney disease which required my being on HUGE doses of prednisone, which in turn - I gained a ton of weight. I lost about 50 pounds a year or so ago, and kind of topped out there. A few months ago I started walking 2 miles a day and doing 100++ crunches a day, and really noticed a big difference. Lost 15 pounds and shaped up a lot, then went to Vegas for 3 days and (of course, lol) gained 4 back. When I got home my work out schedule was shot - I came down with severe bronchitis a couple of days after my trip and am just now getting a lot better. Now I'm almost back (weight-wise) to where I was, but getting back to the 2 miles a day and the crunches is difficult! I need to lose another 35 to 45 pounds in 4 months...sigh...Anyway, glad to have found you all! [img]http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif[/img]

glad to have you holly. welcome to the board...everyone here is nice (well, almost everyone, ya gotta watch that belle person, she seems nice, but she has a wicked streak! [img]http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif[/img])and very supportive. sorry to hear about your kidney problems, but am really glad you are not letting it be your excuse.have you talked to your dr about a good diet to be on with your disease? also may want to see a nutritionist. just some suggestions.good luck, keep us posted, btw, we weigh in on thursdays, we don't name weights (unless you want), just how you did.

I have asthma, so know what you're facing with the prednisone. I put on about a lb a day when on that stuff, so now I avoid it like the plague. The trick for me is to keep myself healthy enough so that I don't need it.

[img]http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif[/img] I'm actually, very luckily, in remission now and things are looking good. My doc has no idea if it'll come back in 1 year or 20 - I'm kind of a "guinea pig". Seems most people don't get this at my age, usually in their 70s and 80s. Ain't I [I]luuucky![/I] LOL.
