What to get my husband...Cruise Cash or Fun Shop gift?

I surprised my husband with a cruise for his 50th birthday. I really want this to be a special experience for him because he deserves it! So if your wife/gf/significant other got you something, which would you prefer? Cruise cash to spend how you want or a Fun Shop purchase (which item) to already be in the room? Oh & I already paid for the excursions & we already have a steakhouse reservation. Thank you for your help! :)

Considering they add on 15% BS “Delivery fee” to whatever you order from the Fun shops now with few exceptions, I would do general Cruise Cash. Then he can pick what he wants in the gift shops, Cherry On Top, etc. or he can use it for the casino or anything else onboard.

If you pre-order I don’t think that’s the case. I ordered some things online for our cruise next week and don’t see any delivery fee, just the item prices. But maybe I’m mistaken

FWIW, we did both. I ordered $25 bar cash, a bottle of wine, bon voyage cake, and some specialty popcorn and the total was around $75, which I thought was reasonable

Yes they add on the 15% if you order ahead of time. Water, Cruise Cash, Internet, Cheers and B.B. not included (the last 2 have 15% gratuity added in already).

It started recently.

Why not both? You only get to celebrate a special occasion like a 50th birthday on a cruise once.If there's something you see on the Fun Shop's web site that you think he'd like, go ahead and order it. And there are so many possibilities to spend cruise cash on the ship. A couple of cocktails. Some goodies from the Cherry On Top shop. A shirt from the ship's gift shop. Etc.

First off, you are an awesome wife. You already booked the cruise, steakhouse, and excursions. I would be estatic with that already.

From there, it depends on your husband's preference. If the missing piece is alcohol, would he rather have a bottle, or would he want to buy drinks?

Thank you Joebucks! He totally deserves it & more! I think he would like to buy drinks instead of a bottle. I’ve been showing him pics of different drinks folks share in their reviews. And we’ve got a Carnival drink bucket list going! I also saw some nice bar glasses in the Fun Shops that I can see him drinking his Crown in at home. I think those would make a nice souvenir!

I love the idea of the bar glasses. My DH got a Red Frog pint glass onboard and it's one of those things that makes him happy every time he pulls it out of the cupboard to use it. And he jokes if it breaks we'll just have to book another cruise to replace it. ;)

Lucky guy to have you spoiling him, have fun!!

Thank you all for the suggestions!!! I’ve decided to just go all out and do both! It’s a milestone BDay, so might as well go for it! Thanks again!!!
By any chance are you familiar with the 10% off Carnival gift cards? You can get them through AARP & Allstate by earning points and then redeeming those points for a 10% discount. So, a 500.00 card will cost you 450.00 plus points and a 100.00 will be 90.00 plus points. I've gotten about 10,000 worth, saving 1,000 in the long run. Do a search on here for the specifics.

Oh yes, I got all over that when I first read about the gift cards on CC! I’ve saved quite a bit!
