Shorts in Amsterdam during heat wave

We are leaving the east coast in 86 degree weather and arriving in Amsterdam when the forecast calls for 87 degrees. We plan to arrive in shorts and wear them when we are in Amsterdam while it is so hot. Is this considered correct, or will we feel out of place? Thank you.

We just returned from a river cruise with a stop in Amsterdam, weather was warm and just about everyone was wearing shorts. You won't feel out of place wearing them.

This is an interesting thread and interesting replies.

Personally, I would never wear shorts in a European capital city.

Nor would I wear sneakers in Europe.

But since I'm 71, I guess I'm a bit old fashioned (but with good legs for my age :D)
