NCL moving ships around, there are threads on individual ships but I thought it would be useful to have a thread for the whole.

Norwegian Joy’s new itineraries will be open for sale on July 24, 2018, on NCL.com.

Norwegian Pearl’s new itineraries will be open for sale on NCL.com on July 31, 2018.

Norwegian Jewel's new itineraries will be open for sale on NCL.com July 31, 2018.

Norwegian Jade's new itineraries will be open for sale on August 6, 2018.

Norwegian Spirit’s new itineraries will be open for sale on NCL.com on August 6, 2018.

Should be some great repositioning cruises coming soon :)

Also interesting to see that the Spirit will undergo a bow-to-stern revitalization under the Norwegian Edge fleet refurbishment program. Many people, myself included, thought that she would shortly be out of the NCL fleet.

Fascinating. My biggest question is: does NCL convert the ~500 sq. ft. family inside mini-suites that are in lieu of the studio-plex on Joy into studios? Folks expect studios on NCL's newest ships, but I imagine that the conversion process might be cost prohibitive. If so, that would make me less likely to sail Joy unless I was able to get a good last-minute deal. I guess we will find out when Joy's new USA-centric itineraries go on sale on July 24.

Awesome! Was hoping for another ship besides Spirit in Europe for next summer. Can't wait to see the Pearl itineraries and prices. I think the rumor is that it will sail R/T Amsterdam (?).

Yes first Amsterdam then she will sail also from barcelone , Rome and Venise

Does anyone hear any rumors of which ports she might be sailing to (from Amsterdam)?

From port bookings which we have seen, it looks like there will be done 14 day round trips from Amsterdam, starting on Saturdays. At least two of the itineraries have stops in Norway (Flam is booked I believe), but the return seems to be Dublin-Le Havre-Tilbury (London) and then back to Amsterdam. This suggests that the return will go to the west of England rather than East as is usually the case.

It looks as though the Flam booking isn’t there for all dates, so there may be variations. Possibly Iceland, although there are already a few of those on the Gametaway/Spirit from memory.

Relying on port bookings can sometimes be misleading, but it gives an idea.

I'm hoping for an alternating 14 day from Amsterdam that would possibly include some Bay of Biscay ports....head down to Bordeaux and Bilbao and maybe even over to Porto and Lisbon and some other interesting ports in between. Such a great itinerary.....but I'm thinking this likely won't happen....it will be the same old UK and Norway ports.....

I, too, thought the Spirit was heading for another cruise line at some point soon. She was purpose-built for the FreeStyle concept so whoever bought her would have to do some serious renovations to her anyhow. I'm just sad that if they're touching the Spirit bow to stern, she may actually (ironically) lose her Asian theme and cultural feel. I fell in love with the Spirit when she did the Boston to Bermuda run for her decor alone.

Like others, I too thought she was heading for another home. I do question one comment you made, I do not think she, originally was built for freestyle. I could be wrong, but I remember when she joined the official NCL fleet and she wasn't new then. I think she was built prior to Freestyle.

Our first NCL cruise was on the Spirit (back in Dec 2006), but when we went back on her in April this year after over 12 years and 19 NCL cruises (on most of other ships) we found her great and really enjoyed being on her - so NCL better NOT get rid of her!

We have been on all the current NCL ships except for Jewel, Sky and Bliss, and we do not have a favourite ship, but the Spirit is among our top fave ships.

She was purpose-built for Star Cruises as SuperStar Leo to introduce the FreeStyle concept of multiple restaurants to the orient market. However, the concept flopped and Star Cruises (then parent of NCL) transferred the ship to the American NCL fleet to sail under the name Norwegian Spirit. They cut the casino back and made a portion of it the Le Bistro restaurant which is why the decor is completely out of character with the rest of the ship. I fully expect Le Bistro to be taken out for her return to the orient for the Asian deployment.

Does Joy add capacity in the summer Alaska market (adding to Bliss and Jewel), or does Jewel stay in the Aussie market year round - cancelling her 2019 Alaska itineraries I wonder?

ARgh, I am booked on NCL Jewel for Alaska next summer, hope it does not get cancelled.

You should be fine.

Jewel is the only one that does one way cruises - Vancouver to Seward and Seward to Vancouver.

Bliss and Joy do round trips out of Seattle.
